Titan Softball Set for Spring Games in Florida

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Taking their undefeated record on the road, the UW-Oshkosh Titans (8-0) softball squad heads to Florida for the 2023 Spring Games.

The Titans open competition against Hamline University on March 18 at 10:30 a.m. CT in Clermont, Florida. Hamline holds a 6-3-1record and are led by Jenna Rubbelke (.467 avg.) and Montana Miller (2.66 ERA) The Titans will face off against Wesleyan University (CT) on March 18 at 1 p.m. Wesleyan University holds a 4-2 record as they begin their season in Florida.

On March 19, the Titans will face Buffalo State University at 10:30 a.m. CT before taking on Millikin University at 1 p.m. Buffalo State opens their season at the Spring Games while Millikin won their first four games of the season before dropping their next four games.

The Titans continue action on March 21 against Washington & Jefferson College at 8 a.m. and Bates College at 1 p.m. The Titans take on St. Olaf on March 23 at 10:30 a.m. and face off against Trinity College at 1 p.m.

Concluding their spring break trip, the Titans will face off against Colby College at 10:30 a.m. and Tufts University at 1 p.m. on March 24.

Checking the Stats

The Titans are batting at .271 through 8 games, on base of .375, and slugging of .355. Hannah Ritter leads the Titans with a .520 batting average and a .519 on base percentage. Emily Cliver leads the team with a .643 slugging percentage. Ritter, Gabby Buikema and Abby Garceau lead the team with six runs scored while Ritter leads with 13 hits.

Titan pitchers are holding their opponents to a combined .188 batting average. Abby Freismuth is tied for second in the nation at the NCAA Division III level to have two saves in a game. Maddie Fink leads the team with an ERA of .26 while Sydney Nemetz has an ERA of .91. The two have combined for 50 strikeouts and four complete games.

National and Conference Stats

The Titans are one of 11 undefeated teams in the opening weeks of the season. Fink is ranked 22nd in the nation for ERA while Morgan Rau is number nine for walks per game (1.12). The Titans have a top-5 ERA in the nation and a top-20 WHIP in the nation at .98.
