Titans Continue Hot Start to the Season

CLERMONT, Fla.—Continuing their best start in program history, the UW-Oshkosh Titans (14-0) defeated Washington & Jefferson College and Bates College in action today.

The Titans, now ranked No. 24 in the NFCA poll, posted an 8-0 score of the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson. The Titans allowed only one run, defeating the Bobcats of Bates 7-1 in the second game of the day.

The Titans are one of six teams in the NCAA Division III to be undefeated and one of only two to be undefeated with 10 or more wins. Abby Freismuth is third in the nation for saves this season (two) while the Titans have a top-3 ERA in the nation.

Washington & Jefferson College Recap

Emily Cliver (one-of-two) singled to left field as Brianna Davis scored the first run of the day for the Titans. Zoe Malone doubled the Titans lead, scoring on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. The Titans added three runs in the fifth inning, led by a Sophie Wery (two-of-three) double as Gabby Buikema scored. Hannah Ritter (three-of-four) crossed home plate on a Morgan Rau (two-of-four) single while Lizzie Slobodecki scored on a Malone ground out.

Buikema found her way across home plate in the sixth as Wery scored off a Morgan Miller RBI single down the left-field line. Abby Garceau was the final Titan to score, adding the eighth and final run on a Ritter RBI single.

Sydney Nemetz went five innings for the Titans, allowing only four hits and collecting three strikeouts. Freismuth went two innings for the Titans, struck out two batters, and allowed no hitters in her outing.

Bates College Recap

Wery (one-of-three) hit her third home run of the season as Buikema scored on the hit in the first inning. Davis hit a ground out as Malone scored for the Titans.

The Titans would add three runs in the led, led by a sacrifice fly by Wery brought Buikema home. Rau (two-of-four) hit an RBI single to bring home Ritter. Davis had an RBI single through the left side as Rau scored the sixth run of the game for the Titans. Davis and Rau would be involved on the final scoring play for the Titans, as Davis hit a sacrifice fly for Rau's second run of the day.

The Bobcats scored their lone run of the game in the seventh inning, as Ella Maher scored on a fielder's choice.

Pitching her fifth complete game of the season, Maddie Fink had three strikeouts and one hit in the game.
