Titans Shoot For 10th Outdoor Championship

UW-Oshkosh goes for its fifth straight top-two finish at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday-Saturday (May 23-25) in La Crosse.

The Titans have nine national titles in the sport, including 2011, while recently placing second in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

Christy Cazzola is the top seed in both the 800-meter (2:05.22) and 1,500-meter (4:18.22) runs. She won the 1,500-meter title the last two years. Cazzola will also compete in the 5,000-meter run, where she is seeded 14th with a time of 17:03.56.

Ranked fifth, Heather Clankie is entered in the discus (142-8) and Samantha Loew in the hammer throw (181-3). UW-Oshkosh also has Melanie Brickner seeded sixth (178-8) and Abby Martin 14th (168-5) in the hammer throw.

In the shot put, Martin is ranked 13th at 44-9.5 and Brickner is 22nd at 44-0.5.

Cazzola will be pushed by teammates in her middle distance races. McKenzie Kelly is the #6 seed in the 1,500-meter at 4:29.10, and Kylee Verhasselt is #8 in the 800-meter at 2:10.24.

The Titan quartet of Cazzola, Becklyn Hunter, Stephanie Jahn, Alesha Malueg qualified 13th in the 1,600-meter relay with its time of 3:50.88.

UW-Oshkosh's final entrant is Kasey Ederer, who's seeded 18th in the high jump with her mark of 5-6.
