Titans List Third At NCAA Outdoor Championship
Nick Baatz captured the shot put title, leading UW-Oshkosh to third place at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Thursday-Saturday (May 23-25) in La Crosse.
With 51.5 points, the Titans finished third behind UW-La Crosse (66) and UW-Eau Claire (64). UW-Whitewater (40) completed the WIAC's sweep of the top four spots.
Baatz was one of four Titans to score multiple All-America honors. He prevailed in the shot put with a toss of 58-11.25. It was his third straight All-America showing in the event. Baatz also notched his third All-America performance in the discus, placing fifth at 174-8.
Pete Delzer scored points in the shot put for the third straight season, listing third at 58-2.5. Delzer then took second in the hammer throw with a measurement of 201-8.
Adding seven points to his team's score, Donald Klitz finished fourth in the triple jump (49-9) and seventh in the high jump (6-8).
UW-Oshkosh crossed the line seventh in both relays, which included Reid Zanoya. The 400-meter group clocked a time of 41.21, while the 1,600-meter quartet booked a 3:15.68.
John Dewitt and John McCann each contributed a fifth-place result. Dewitt was timed at 30:05.89 in the 10,000-meter run, while McCann cleared 6-9 in the high jump.
Two more Titans gathered All-America awards in the throws. Lewis Prior took sixth with his discus flight of 174-3. Jeremy Brandt then posted a shot put of 53-11 for eighth place. In the 400-meter hurdles, Corey Wilch finished eighth with his 55.61.
