Nationally Ranked Titans Set for Qualifier Meet at Augustana

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team, ranked seventh nationally, head to Augustana College (Ill.) for their final meet before the NCAA Division III Championships between May 25-27.

Team National Ranking

UWO stayed at No. 7 for the second week, joined by UW-La Crosse (No. 1), UW-Eau Claire (No. 9), UW-Whitewater (No. 10) and UW-Platteville (No. 12)  from the WIAC.

#EventSquad Rankings

Eight events have the Titans in the top-10 this week, including two top-two spots.

Freshman Charlie Nolan, junior RJ Bosshart, freshman Aden Sears and junior Payton White combine for 6,380 average points for the first No. 2 spot in the decathlon and the pole vault squad with members senior Eli Tranel, sophomore Zach Zirgibel, Bosshart and freshman Matthew Ewens is the other with an average height of 15' 2.75" (4.64m).

UWO ranks second in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Senior Jaylen Grant, junior Joey Kean, senior Denzel Thomas and Bosshart average a 10.64 second time in the 100. Sophomore Londyn Little, juniors Rashaad Henderson and Jaylin Boatman and graduate student Aaron Richardson average a 21.54 in the 200.

Two field events are fifth in the nation this week. In the high jump, sophomore Caleb Cornelius, Nolan, Sears and Ewens have finished with an average best height of 6' 4.75" (1.95m). The long jump squad averages a jump of 22' 10.5" (6.97m) from members sophomore AK Toheeb-Lawal, junior Diego Villalobos, and freshmen Caleb Wright and Elijah McCauley.

Sitting ninth this week with an average time of 55.40 seconds is the 400-meter hurdles squad made up of senior John Ford, junior Elijah Pena, sophomore Weston Lerdal and junior Reid Marquardt.

The final top-10 #EventSquad for the Titans this week is the 800-meter run in 10th. Senior Steven Potter, sophomore Dwight Hosni, sophomore Ryan Potter and Marquardt with an average finish of 1:53.04.

Individual National Rankings and Conference Leaders

Senior Jonathan Wilburn is currently second in the nation and first in the WIAC in the triple jump with a skip of 50' 8.75" (15.46m). Oshkosh holds two top-10 scores in the decathlon from Nolan (second, 6,724 pts.) and Bosshart (eighth, 6,604 pts.). Nolan sits second and Bosshart sits fourth in the conference. The 4x100-meter relay team that raced at St. Francis on May 12 is sixth in the nation and second in the conference with their time of 40.73 seconds. Also sixth nationally is Tranel in the pole vault (16' 4.75", 5,00m). He leads the conference. Cornelius ranks eighth in the country and second in the conference with a 6' 9" (2.06m) height in the high jump.

Steven Potter is outside the top-10 nationally in the 800-meter run but leads the conference with a 1:51.00 finish.

Last Week's Highlights

Steven Potter set his personal best in the 1,500-meter run at St. Francis last weekend with a 3:46.96. He currently sits second in program history. Sophomore Jake Krause jumped into the 3,000-meter steeplechase record book, running a 9:03.83, a personal record and the fifth-fastest time in school history. Little broke Neil Taylor's 200-meter dash school record that had stood since 1984 when he ran a third-place, 21.19 second time.
