No. 13 Titans Will Travel to Drake Relays and UW-Eau Claire Invitational

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team will compete at the 113th Drake University (Iowa) Relays and the UW-Eau Claire Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational this weekend.

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) ranked Oshkosh No. 13 in the nation and six #EventSquads hold top-10 positions.

Team National Ranking

Moving up from No. 23 to No. 13 in this week's USTFCCCA national poll, Oshkosh is one of five WIAC programs in the top-25. UW-La Crosse is ranked second, UW-Whitewater is ranked sixth, UW-Platteville is ranked eighth and UW-Eau Claire is ranked No. 23.

#EventSquad Rankings

Leading the nation is the decathlon squad made up of freshmen Aden Sears, and Charlie Nolan and juniors Payton White and RJ Bosshart. They average 6,038 points.

Senior Jaylen Grant, freshman Ja'siah Williams, senior Denzel Thomas and sophomore Keegan Cullison are third in the 100-meter dash with an average finish of 10.68 seconds.

In the pole vault, senior Eli Tranel, sophomore Zach Zirgibel, Bosshart and freshman Matthew Ewens also sit third, averaging a height of 14' 9 3/4" (4.52m).

The long jump squad also ranks in the top-three with an average distance of 22' 10 1/2" (6.97m). Sophomore AK Toheeb-Lawal, junior Diego Villalobos, and freshmen Caleb Wright and Elijah McCauley make up the squad.

Junior Rashaad Henderson, sophomore Londyn Little and juniors Brett Clavijo and Jaylin Boatman average a 21.79-second finish for fifth nationally.

The final event that Oshkosh ranks  in the top-10 in is the high jump. For seventh in the nation, sophomore Caleb Cornelius, Nolan, Sears and Ewens have jumped to an average height of 6' 3 1/2" (1.92m).

Individual National Rankings

Tranel sits at third in the nation this season with a pole vault of 16' 4 3/4" (5.00m). In the high jump, Cornelius is fourth with a best height of 6' 9" (2.06m). Sears and Nolan are both in the top-10 in the decathlon. Sears ranks sixth with 6,553 points and Nolan ranks ninth with 6,470 points. Henderson is 10th in the 200-meter dash with a best time of 21.24 seconds.

Conference Leaders

Senior Steven Potter leads the WIAC with a 1:51.69 finish in the 800-meter run and a 3:49.36 finish in the 1,500-meter run. Tranel leads the conference in the pole vault (16' 4 3/4", 5.00m). The final WIAC-leading effort by a Titan is Cornelius with a 6' 9" (2.06m) mark in the high jump.

Last Week's Highlights

At last week's Phil Esten Challenge, hosted by UW-La Crosse, the Titans took fifth place with 65 points. Sears' 6,553 points and four event wins in the decathlon were good for second at the meet. His finish ranks third in program history. Nolan, who took third in La Crosse, is now fourth in program history.

Where the Titans are Competing

The Titans will return to action this weekend at both the 113th Drake University (Iowa) Relays between Thursday and Saturday (April 27-29), and the UW-Eau Claire Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational on Friday (April 28).
