No. 23 Titans Headed to UW-La Crosse’s Ashton May Invite

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team is ranked No. 23 in the nation, hold four top-10 #EventSquads, three individual top-10 national marks and three WIAC-leading efforts in this week's review of the Titans. They will compete at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Apr 21-22).

Team National Ranking

Oshkosh is ranked No.23 is this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national ranking. Other WIAC competitors in the top-25 are UW-La Crosse at No. 2 and UW-Eau Claire at No. 24.

#EventSquad Rankings

Four Titan #EventSquads are ranked in the top-10 in this week's USTFCCCA release. Senior Jaylen Grant, freshman Ja'siah Williams, senior Denzel Thomas and sophomore Keegan Cullison average the third-fastest 100-meter dash with a 10.68 second average. Also ranked third in the nation is the long jump squad made up of sophomore AK Toheeb-Lawal, junior Diego Villalobos and freshmen Caleb Wright and Elijah McCauley that averages 22' 10 1/2" (6.97m). Junior Rashaad Henderson, sophomore Londyn Little and juniors Brett Clavijo and Jaylin Boatman average 21.79 seconds in the 200-meter dash for fourth in the nation. The third squad ranked in the top-10 is the high jumpers. Sophomore Caleb Cornelius, and freshmen Aden Sears, Charlie Nolan and Kendrick Cyracus average a height of 6' 2 3/4" (1.90m) which ranks seventh nationally.

Individual National Rankings

Senior Eli Tranel sits second nationally with a pole vault height of 16' 4 3/4" (5.00m). He is followed by Titans with fourth and eighth place marks. Cornelius is fourth in the high jump with his 6' 9" (2.06m) jump and Henderson is eighth in the 200-meter dash with a personal record and the second-fastest time in program history of 21.24 seconds.

Conference Leaders

Senior Steven Potter leads the WIAC in both the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run with finishes of 1:51.69 and 3:49.36, respectively. Cornelius is first in the high jump after his 6' 9" jump at the UW-Platteville Invitational and Tranel's 16' 4 3/4" pole vault also paces the league.

Last Week's Highlights

Oshkosh won three events at the UW-Platteville Invitational last Friday (April 14), finishing fourth of 14 teams with 88 points. Henderson set a personal record and ran the second-fastest time in program history with a 21.24 second finish in the 200-meter dash, Potter won the 800-meter run with a team season best 1:51.69 and sophomore Caleb Cornelius won the high jump for the second consecutive week with a team season best height of 6' 9".

Where the Titans are Competing

The Titans will head back to UW-La Crosse for the second time of four times this outdoor season for the Phil Esten Challenge on Friday and Saturday (April 21-22). The meet will start at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
