With Four Event Wins, Titans Place Second at Ashton May Invitational

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team finished second in a field of six teams, scoring 132 points at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Friday (April 7). The team won four events over the course of the meet.

Track Event Results

Junior Jaylen Grant led the Titans with a 10.56 second, third place finish in the 100-meter dash finals. Freshman Ja'siah Williams followed in fifth with a 10.71 second time. Senior Denzel Thomas took sixth in 10.72 seconds, sophomore Keegan Cullison (10.75) took seventh and sophomore Brett Clavijo took ninth (10.78).

Sophomore Rashaad Henderson won the 200-meter dash, running a 21.85 second time. Sophomores Londyn Little and Jaylin Boatman took second and third with times of 21.89 and 22.13. 

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Jelani Lawson (51.32) and Evan Wendland (52.84) both finished in the top-20 with 11th and 16th place finishes.

Junior Ryan Potter took fourth with a 1:53.91 time in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Nick Vey finished just outside the top-eight, finishing in 1:58.26. Sophomore Cody Witthun took 15th in 2:02.13.

Senior Steven Potter ran a 3:50.73 time in the 1,500-meter run, finishing 0.58 seconds behind first place. Senior Andrew Rathkamp took eighth in 3:55.41. Sophomore Jake Krause (3:59.62) took 15th and freshman Cameron Cullen (4:02.41) took 19th.

In the 5,000-meter run, freshman Joe Freng finished in 15:38.12 for eighth. Three more Titans finished in the top-20. Freshman Owen Bostwick took 12th in 15:45.37, sophomore John Thill took 17th in 16:06.70 and sophomore Eli Traeder took 20th in 16:19.28.

Sophomore Aden Sears finished the 110-meter hurdle finals in 14.97 seconds for third place.

Finishing ninth and 10th in the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Weston Lerdal ran in 59.54 seconds and freshman Damareyon Taylor ran in 59.57 seconds. Junior Jason Ford took 16th in 1:02.04 and sophomore Jake Krause took 17th in 1:02.61.

Freshman Joe Hertel took 9:51.14 to finish the 3,000-meter steeplechase and take 11th place. Freshman Trent Chadwick grabbed 14th in 10:00.09 and freshman Zach Nelson finished in 16th with a time of 10:43.12.

The 4x400-meter relay squad placed first in 3:21.56.

Field Event Results

Sophomore Caleb Cornelius won the high jump with a best jump of 6' 8" (2.03m). Finishing in 17th, freshman Kendrick Cyracus jumped 5' 10" (1.78m).

As the only Titan to compete in the pole vault, senior Eli Tranel won with a mark of 16' 4 3/4" (5.00m).

In the long jump, sophomore Diego Villalobos led the Titans with a fourth place, 22' 10 1/2" (6.97m) mark. Freshmen Caleb Wright took eighth with a jump of 22' 1 3/4" (6.75m) and Elijah McCauley took ninth (21' 11" or 6.68m).

Wright finished the triple jump in second place with a best mark of 46' (14.02m) and McCauley took ninth, jumping 37' 3 1/4" (11.36m).

Freshman Isaiah Isom led Oshkosh in the shot put with a cast of 47' 3 1/2" (14.41m) for third place. Freshman Kieran Maude followed in fourth with a throw of 46' 10" (14.27m) and senior Tay'Jion Johnson took sixth with a mark of 46' 6 1/4" (14.18m). Freshman Cameron Bendixen finished in 12th place, throwing 41' 9 3/4" (12.74m). Taking 17th through 20th, Sears threw 36' 4" (11.07m), freshman Steven Wauer threw 36' 3 1/2" (11.06m), freshman Matthew Ewens threw 34' 9 3/4" (10.61m) and freshman Cole Spanbauer threw 34' 4 1/4" (10.47m).

In the discus throw, Isom placed fourth with a cast of 141' 1" (43.00m). Maude grabbed 11th, throwing 131' 7" (40.10m). Wauer finished in 19th with a mark of 118' 2" (36.03m).

Johnson took 13th with a best throw of 141' 5" (43.11m) in the hammer throw. He was followed by Bendixen who threw 119' (36.27m) for 19th and Maude who threw 116' (35.36m) for 20th.

Freshman Fenyx Morningdove led the Titans in the javelin throw with a throw of 148' 8" (45.31m), placing fifth. Sears took eighth (133' 11"/40.83m), Ewens took ninth (122' 8"/37.38m), Spanbauer took 13th (116' 9"/35.59m), Nolan took 14th (111' 10"/34.08m) and sophomore Payton White took 15th (103' 6"/31.54m).

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action on Friday April 14 to compete in the two-day UW-Platteville Invitational. Events will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
