Titans Ranked No. 1 in the Nation, Four #EventSquads; Set to Travel to Ripon

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team was ranked No. 1 in the nation for the second week in a row and in four #EventSquads in the first ranking of the season.

Team National Rankings

The Titans are ranked No. 1 after the second week of polls was released by USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon with 164.44 team points. Other WIAC competitors UW-La Crosse (No. 4), UW-Eau Claire (No. 6) and UW-Whitewater (No. 21) are also ranked.

In the first #EventSquad ranking of the season, the Titans rank No. 1 in four events and are in the top-10 in an additional seven. Their 6.84 second average in the 60-meter dash, 1.97-meter average in the high jump, 6.98-meter average in the long jump and 14.08-meter average in the triple jump all lead nationally. The Titans rank second in the 200-meter dash (22.08 second average), 800-meter run (1:52.31 average) and pole vault (4.47-meter average). An additional three events are ranked third. Oshkosh has a 49.27 second average in the 400-meter dash, 4:13.07 average in the mile run and a 4,577 point average in the heptathlon. 

Individual National Rankings

Senior Jonathan Wilburn leads the nation in the triple jump with a mark of 15.15 meters. Sophomore Davian Willems sits at third nationally in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 6.72 seconds. Sophomore Londyn Little's 21.49 second finish in the 200-meter dash also ranks third. Junior Ryan Potter ranks fifth with a personal best 1:51.57 finish in the 800-meter run and senior Steven Potter ranks eighth (1:51.71). In the high jump, freshman Charlie Nolan is in a three-way tied for seventh in the nation with a mark of 2.04 meters. Senior Eli Tranel and sophomore Zach Zirgibel are each in the top-10 in the pole vault with bests of 5.00 and 4.90 meters. Junior RJ Bosshart and sophomore Aden Sears rank sixth and seventh in the nation in the heptathlon with scores of 4,918 and 4,896 points adjusted for a banked track.

Last Week's Highlights

Little won the 200-meter dash in the Warren Bowlus Multi & Open hosted by UW-Stout with a time of 21.98, followed by junior Rashaad Henderson in third (22.76). Freshman Devin Williams grabbed the 400-meter dash crown, finishing in 50.37 seconds and freshman Fenyx Morningdove took third with a time of 51.20 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Little, Morningdove, Henderson and Williams won the race in 3:27.94. Junior Danny Vinson took second in the 60-meter dash (6.97). In field events, Nolan and sophomore Caleb Cornelius tied for second in the high jump with jumps of 1.91 meters. The Titans also took second in the long jump (Jamyle Brantley, 6.56 meters), triple jump (Ben Jung, 13.10 meters) and pole vault (Tranel, 5.00 meters).

Steven Potter won the 800-meter run at the Aurora University (Ill.) Spartan Grand Prix with a time of 1:52.04, followed by junior Reid Marquardt in third (1:54.24).

Where the Titans are Competing

The Titans are headed to Ripon on Saturday to compete in the Red Hawk Invitational. The meet begins at 10:45 a.m.
