Titans Rank No. 1 in Opening Poll; Compete in Warren Bowlus Open Over Weekend

OSHKOSH, Wis.- In the first national ranking of the season, the UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team is sitting atop Division III in first place.

Team National Ranking

The Titans were ranked No. 1 in the nation (189.82 points) on Tuesday when USTFCCCA released their first poll of the season. Loras College (Iowa) was ranked second, followed by Williams College (Mass.), UW-La Crosse and SUNY Cortland in the top-five. WIAC competitor UW-Eau Claire (20) was also ranked.

Individual National Rankings

11 Titans hold top-10 finishes in the nation this season. Davian Willems' program record 6.72 second 60-meter dash is second behind UW-La Crosse's Sam Blaskowski (6.70). Londyn Little holds the second-fastest time in the 200-meter dash with a 21.49 second time. Ryan Potter, Steven Potter and Dwight Hosni all hold top-10 times in the 800-meter run. Steven Potter also is in the top-10 in the mile run. Charlie Nolan sits at seventh in the high jump with a 2.04-meter mark. Zach Zirgibel has a 4.90-meter finish in the pole vault, good for fourth in the nation. Jonathan Wilburn is first in the nation in the triple jump with a 15.15-meter finish and Sebastian Jefferson is in the top-10 in the long jump with a 7.10-meter mark. In the heptathlon, Aden Sears' 4,506-points ranks ninth.

Last Week's Highlights

The Titans competed in the Ripon College Red Hawk Opener on Saturday, Jan. 21, winning four events in the unscored meet. Devin Williams won the 400-meter dash in 50.56 seconds, followed by nine other Titans. Seven of the eight top-finishes in the 60-meter dash were from Oshkosh, with Aaron Richardson winning the event in 6.94 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team won the race in 3:24.84. Jefferson's nationally ranked 7.10-meter jump won the event in Ripon. Wilburn finished the triple jump with a mark of 14.20 meters, grabbing first-place. Max Schoening and Isaiah Isom each led Division III competitors in the 35-lb. weight throw and shot put with throws of 14.33 meters and 14.69 meters, respectively. 

Where the Titans are Competing

Oshkosh is headed to Menomonie on Friday and Saturday to participate in the annual Warren Bowlus Open hosted by UW-Stout.
