Titans Continue Winning With Sweep Of Blue Devils

MENOMONIE, Wis.- Two Titans registered double-digit kills in the UW-Oshkosh volleyball team's 21st win of the season over UW-Stout on Friday (Oct. 6).

Nationally ranked No. 2 UW-Oshkosh (21-0, 3-0 WIAC) earned their 12th sweep of the season with set scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-14 over UW-Stout (14-3, 0-3 WIAC). The Titans extended their nation-leading marks in team assists (948) and team kills (1,008) with 44 of each against the Blue Devils.

Riley Kindt (Sr. • Brookfield) hit 15 kills on 21 attacks, followed closely behind by Sami Perlberg (Fr. • Chippewa Falls) with 12 on 26. Izzy Coon ended the night with 19 assists, two aces and 11 digs. The WIAC digs leader, Abby Fregien (Jr. • Waukesha) notched 14 digs and added three assists in the match.

The Titans broke early ties in each of the first two sets and held leads the rest of the way. UW-Oshkosh never led by more than five points in the first set but ran out to a 14-7 lead in the second thanks to a 12-5 run that broke an early 2-2 tie. The team led by as much as 10 points during the set before winning by 10.

UW-Stout scored the first three points of the third set and kept the lead until a Riley Dahlquist (So. • Sussex) kill gave UW-Oshkosh a 9-8 lead. The Titans and Blue Devils traded points and leads until UW-Oshkosh separated with a 5-0 spurt to make the score 17-12. It went 8-2 the rest of the way, led by Perlberg with two kills.

The Titans will return to action at home on Wednesday (Oct. 11) to face UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
