Titans Sweep Falcons

OSHKOSH, Wis.— Carissa Sundholm led all players with 13 kills and 35 total attempts on Saturday afternoon as the Titans, ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, beat UW-River Falls.

 

The Titans (22-4, 4-1 WIAC) defeated the Falcons (6-10, 0-5 WIAC) in sets of 25-15, 25-15, 27-25 on their way to their eleven consecutive win.

 

UW-Oshkosh led UW-River Falls in attack percentage in all three sets, 68%, 86% and 53%, respectively.

 

Sundholm, who accounted for 14.5 points during the match, has now produced double-digit kills in 18 matches this season.

 

Kalli Mau led the Titans with 14 assists, her 24th match this season with at least 13 assists.

 

The Titans raced out to early leads of 8-3 and 8-2 in the first two sets, never allowing a lead change in either set, taking them easily by a score of 25-15 in both sets.

 

The Titans and Falcons traded points early in the third set before the Falcons later ran out to a 16-10 lead. The Titans responded by scoring 6 straight points to tie the set. The teams traded points again with three more lead changes until they finished off the Falcons 27-25 to complete the clean sweep. The Titans have extended their regular season winning streak to 9 seasons, last losing to UW-River Falls on Oct. 27, 2012.

 

The Titans return to Kolf Sports Center on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. as they host Ripon College (Wis.).
