Jenna Weinfurt had 14 kills to lead the nationally ranked UW-Whitewater women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over UW-Oshkosh during the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener Wednesday (Sept. 15) in Whitewater.

UW-Whitewater (6-0, 1-0 WIAC) defeated the Titans in set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18. The Warhawks, who improved to 73-9 at home since 2015, held advantages of 45-26 in kills, .193 to .078 in hitting percentage, 52-45 in digs, 8-6 in blocks and 5-1 in service aces. UW-Whitewater is ranked 11th in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

UW-Oshkosh (7-3, 0-1 WIAC), which had its five-match winning streak snapped, went into Wednesday ranked second in Division III in total blocks and sixth in total digs while UW-Whitewater was second nationally at 2.86 blocks per set.

Carissa Sundholm and Courtney Pearson paced the Titans with nine and eight kills, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh's Amelia Hust, who entered the match with a Division III-leading 205 digs, led the squad for the 10th consecutive contest with 11 digs to go along with the team's lone service ace.

Emma Kiekhofer dished out 14 assists and Kalli Mau nine while sharing the UW-Oshkosh setting duties. Kiekhofer chipped in eight digs.

Weinfurt hit .435 on 23 swing for the Warhawks, who also received 10 kills from Morgan Wardall, seven terminations from Erin McNeil, five kills and five blocks from Kirsten Anderson, 19 assists apiece from Paige Manssen and KellyAnn Sotiros, and 15 digs from Morgan Jensen.

UW-Whitewater reclaimed the lead for good in the first at 4-3 following a Titans error. The Warhawks increased their cushion to 20-9 before ending the frame on back-to-back kills by McNeil and Wardall.

Tied at 9 during the second set, UW-Whitewater got a kill from Baylie Hansen for a 10-9 edge and maintained a lead for the remainder of the frame before claiming a 10-9 advantage in the third set they would not relinquish on the way to securing the victory.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Eau Claire to play a trio of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents Friday and Saturday (Sept. 17-18) at the UW-Eau Claire Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament. The Titans face Gustavus Adolphus College to begin the tournament Friday.
