Elstner, Jaeke Selected To All-WIAC Volleyball Team

UW-Oshkosh's Tina Elstner and Samantha Jaeke were named repeat selections to the All-WIAC Women's Volleyball First Team.

Elstner, a junior outside hitter, and Jaeke, a sophomore setter and right-side hitter, have helped lead UW-Oshkosh to a 20-14 record this year, including a fifth-place 3-4 mark in the WIAC. Both Elstner and Jaeke earned their second all-league accolades.

Elstner leads the WIAC with 47 service aces while listing second in the league with 381 kills. She also ranks second on the team with 280 digs and fourth on the squad with 58 blocks. Elstner, who has paced the Titans in kills 25 times this season, has recorded at least 10 terminations in a match on 24 occasions.

Elstner has notched 10 double-doubles this year, including a season-high 26 kills with 14 digs against UW-River Falls on Oct. 13. She also tallied 18 kills and 10 digs against Tufts University (Mass.) on Sept. 23, and 15 kills and 15 digs against Wheaton College (Ill.) on Sept. 6.

Jaeke has compiled 11 double-doubles and four triple-doubles this year. Her triple-double total ranks fifth in the NCAA Division III.

Jaeke amassed 12 kills, 22 assists and 10 digs against St. Norbert College on Sept. 13; 10 kills, 18 assists and 13 digs against Millikin University (Ill.) on Sept. 22; 10 kills, 27 assists and 10 digs against University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Oct. 21; and 15 kills, 17 assists and 11 digs against UW-Stout on Oct. 28.

Jaeke has a team-leading 529 assists while ranking second on the squad with 266 kills and third with 83 blocks. She led UW-Oshkosh in kills 10 times this season.

Also named to the 12-member All-WIAC First Team were Madison Entinger, Stephanie Henk and Marisa Johnson from UW-La Crosse; April Gehl and Kelly Magliano from UW-Stevens Point; Madelyn Pashibin and Madison Surprise from UW-Eau Claire; and Sydney Racky, Brittany Robinson and Courtney Wagner from UW-Whitewater.

The four-member WIAC All-Defensive Team was comprised of UW-Stout's Stephanie Cannon, UW-Eau Claire's Talia Jaskulske, UW-Stevens Point's Kendra Kundinger and UW-Whitewater's Robinson.

UW-La Crosse's Henk was chosen as the WIAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. UW-Whitewater's Robinson was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Year while UW-La Crosse's Amber Dunn was tabbed Coach of the Year.

UW-La Crosse (19-6 overall record) won the WIAC regular season title with a 7-0 league mark. The Eagles were followed in the standings by second-place UW-Eau Claire (17-10) at 6-1, third-place UW-Whitewater (21-7) at 5-2, fourth-place UW-Stevens Point (24-10) at 4-3, fifth-place UW-Oshkosh, sixth-place UW-Stout (9-20) at 2-5, seventh-place UW-Platteville (15-14) at 1-6 and eighth-place UW-River Falls (19-15) at 0-7.

UW-Oshkosh advanced to the semifinal round WIAC Championship with a 3-0 win at UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday (Oct. 31). The Titans, who rank second in the NCAA Division III with 265.5 blocks, will put their season-best seven-match winning streak on the line during tonight's (Nov. 2) semifinal contest at UW-La Crosse.
