Elstner, Jaeke Lead Titans' All-WIAC Volleyball Selections

First team selections Tina Elstner and Samantha Jaeke headlined five UW-Oshkosh players named to the 2016 All-WIAC Women's Volleyball Team.

Elstner, a sophomore outside hitter, received all-league accolades for the first time while Jaeke, a right-side hitter, earned recognition in her freshman season.

Elstner and Jaeke helped lead UW-Oshkosh to a 28-6 record and a share of its second straight WIAC championship.

Elstner ranks third in the conference with 381 kills and paces the Titans with 37 service aces. Elstner, who has notched 11 double-doubles this season, also lists second on the team with 341 digs and fourth with 72 blocks. She has recorded at least 10 kills in 21 matches this season, including a career-high 21 against Birmingham-Southern College (Ala.) on Sept. 3.

Elstner's career totals include 547 kills, 393 digs and 121 blocks in 65 matches and 121 sets played.

Jaeke lists second in the WIAC with 103 blocks, eighth with 312 kills and ninth with a .256 hitting percentage. She ranks second on the team with 36 service aces and 62 assists while adding 122 digs. Jaeke has produced 10 or more kills in 14 matches this season, including a season-best 16 against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) on Oct. 14.

Completing the 12-member All-WIAC First Team were UW-Eau Claire's Katrina Raskie and Heather Sawchuk; UW-La Crosse's Jill Entinger, Maddie Entinger and Stephanie Henk; UW-Stevens Point's Kelly Cefalu and Bri Piepenbrok; and UW-Whitewater's Staci Hasler, Lauren Pfiefer and Courtney Wagner.

Collecting all-league honorable mention accolades for UW-Oshkosh were sophomore middle blocker Carly Lemke, senior setter Lexi Thiel and senior middle blocker Nerissa Vogt, who was named to the first team a year ago.

Lemke lists fourth in the conference with a .284 hitting percentage while ranking third on the team with 191 kills and 85 blocks. Her career totals include 276 kills and 147 blocks in 55 matches and 175 sets played. This season, Lemke established career bests with 18 kills against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 19 and eight blocks against Gustavus Adolphus College.

Thiel leads the WIAC with 1,176 assists while ranking fourth on the team with 296 digs and 27 service aces, and sixth with 53 blocks. Thiel, who has tallied a team-leading 13 double-doubles this season and 33 in her career, had 50 or more assists in four matches this season, including a season-high 59 against Birmingham-Southern College. Her four-year totals include 3,463 assists, 885 digs, 308 kills and 208 blocks in 136 matches and 490 sets played.

Vogt paces the conference with 1.36 blocks per set and lists fifth with 98 total blocks despite missing most of the first 11 matches of the season due to injury. She has contributed 124 kills this year, including a season-best 12 against the University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) on Oct. 14. Vogt also notched her third career double-double with 10 kills and 11 blocks against UW-Stout on Oct. 29. Her career totals include 942 kills and 502 blocks in 130 matches and 453 sets played.

UW-La Crosse's Henk and Lily Hallock were named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. UW-Stevens Point's Piepenbrok was chosen as the WIAC Defensive Player of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh, which shared this year's WIAC title with UW-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater, also secured league championships in 1982, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2015.

The Titans, ranked 20th in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, will play at 13th-ranked UW-La Crosse (21-4) in the semifinal round of the WIAC Championship on Thursday (Nov. 3).
