Malcheski, Trautmann Lead Titans' All-WIAC Selections

Major award winners Katelyn Malcheski and Mandy Trautmann highlight UW-Oshkosh's trio of players named to the 2015 All-WIAC Women's Volleyball Team.

Malcheski shared the league's Offensive Player of the Year honors with UW-La Crosse's Jill Entinger, while Trautmann was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.

Junior middle blocker Nerissa Vogt gave the Titans a conference-leading three players on the 12-member All-WIAC First Team.

Joining the three Titans on the All-WIAC First Team were UW-Eau Claire's Katrina Raskie and Jenna Smits, UW-La Crosse's Entinger and Jaclyn Barrette, UW-Stevens Point's Hannah Picel and Gabby Thomas, UW-River Falls' Rebecca Gasper, and UW-Whitewater's Staci Hasler and Lauren Pfeifer.

Malcheski becomes the third Titan to win Offensive Player of the Year accolades, joining Jacque Ray in 2010 and co-winner Christina Southward in 2002.

Trautmann is the second recipient of the league's Defensive Player of the Year award since its debut last season.

Malcheski, a senior left-side hitter, is the eighth Titan to be named All-WIAC First Team three times and the first to accomplish the feat since Christina Cahoon from 2008-10. Malcheski also earned All-WIAC honorable mention status during her freshman season in 2012.

Malcheski ranks fourth in school history with 1,535 career kills, trailing only WIAC all-time leader Amy Cayemberg (2,292), Jean Harmsen (1,772) and Leah Rosenbaum (1,726). Malcheski, who has registered double-digit kills in 26 of 35 matches this season, has compiled 408 kills this season after recording 476 in 2014, 383 in 2013 and 268 in 2012.

Malcheski's kill total ranks second in the WIAC this year, while her .217 hitting percentage is second on the team and 17th in the conference. She recorded a season-best 22 kills against the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) on Oct. 17 and 20 against UW-Platteville on Sept. 30.

Trautmann, a senior libero, paces the WIAC with 700 digs after leading the NCAA Division III with 833 last season. She ranks second in WIAC history with 2,646 career digs, trailing only the 2,753 by Cahoon.

Trautmann, who was also named to the league's four-member All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season, has registered double-digit digs in 31 of her 33 matches played this year. She's had 16 matches this season with 20 or more digs, including a school-record 47 against UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 6.

Vogt ranks third in the Division III with 169 blocks this season. She also lists fourth in the WIAC with a .284 hitting percentage, and eighth with 435 points and 315 kills. She has registered eight or more kills in 25 of her 34 matches played this season, including a season-high 18 against UW-Stevens Point on Nov. 6.

Vogt has recorded multiple blocks in 31 matches this season, including a season-high 12 against Cornell College (Iowa) on Oct. 3 and 11 against Illinois Wesleyan University on Oct. 16. She also had 16 kills against Cornell College and 15 against Illinois Wesleyan University for double-doubles.

Joining Trautmann on the All-Defensive Team were Picel, Talia Jaskulske from UW-Eau Claire and Brittany Robinson from UW-Whitewater.

UW-La Crosse's Lily Hallock was named the WIAC Coach of the Year.

UW-Oshkosh (26-9, 6-1 WIAC), ranked 18th in the Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, shared this year's WIAC regular-season title with UW-La Crosse. The league title was the 12th for the Titans.
