Titans Win Two Of Four Matches At Loras College Invite

UW-Oshkosh earned its 14th and 15th sweeps of the year during a 2-2 performance at the Loras College Volleyball Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 19-20) in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Titans (18-15) now have all but three of their victories in 3-0 matches this year. On Friday, UW-Oshkosh defeated Coe College, 25-14, 25-23, 25-20, before falling to Loras College in five sets (21-25, 25-18, 13-25, 25-23, 15-9).

Saturday's action began with the Titans' 25-20, 25-22, 25-19 triumph against Luther College (Iowa). The University of Dubuque (Iowa) then prevailed over UW-Oshkosh, 25-22, 25-15, 11-25, 15-25, 15-12.

The Titans hit .226 while holding Coe to a .017 mark. Larissa Krumplitsch (Sr. • Appleton) did most of the damage with 11 kills. Morgan Liebetrau (Sr. • West Bend) racked up 35 assists, as the defensive effort featured 23 digs from Robyn Eggert (Jr. • Woodridge, Ill.). Coe (17-12) was led by Emily Ryan's 23 assists and Alissa Wittenburg's 16 digs.

Loras (13-15) won the odd-numbered sets during its victory. The balanced attack included 16 kills by Kara Grant and 19 digs from both Shawn Rielly and Christa Winders. UW-Oshkosh totaled 105 digs, with Eggert marking 28 and Mandy Trautmann (Fr. • Seymour) posting 24. Jordyn Bratel topped the Titans with 13 kills.

Against Luther (13-15), the Titans recorded 11 blocks, with five apiece by Krumplitsch and Liebetrau. Krumplitsch slammed down 12 kills while hitting .688. Lindsey Ryan paced Luther with 30 assists.

The Titans fought back from a 2-0 deficit to force the fifth set against Dubuque. The Spartans (14-19) came out on top despite being out-hit, .235 to .140. Klaudia Basierak led all players with 18 kills. Liebetrau compiled 42 assists and 13 digs, to go with 14 kills by Katelyn Malcheski (Fr. • Little Suamico).

During the weekend's 16 sets, Malcheski totaled 42 kills and Liebetrau booked 135 assists. Krumplitsch added 41 kills, 17 blocks and four service aces.

UW-Oshkosh has its final road match at defending conference champion UW-Whitewater on Wednesday (Oct. 24).
