Titans To Entertain Pioneers In WIAC Tournament Debut

UW-Platteville makes its second visit of the season to UW-Oshkosh when the two women's volleyball teams meet in an opening-round match of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 1) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh enters the 7 p.m. contest with an 18-17 record. The Titans shared fourth place in the WIAC's regular-season standings with UW-Platteville (20-14), but UW-Oshkosh earned the six-team tournament's fourth seed due to its 3-1 (20-25, 15-19, 25-18, 25-23) victory over the fifth-seeded Pioneers on Sept. 21.

Another opening round game on Tuesday has sixth-seeded UW-River Falls (16-17) traveling to third-seeded UW-Eau Claire (20-11). The host Blugolds shared the WIAC's regular-season title with UW-Stevens Point (25-6) and UW-Whitewater (24-7).

The winner of Tuesday's match between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Platteville will play top-seeded UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Nov. 4) in Stevens Point. Friday's other semifinal round contest in Stevens Point has second-seeded UW-Whitewater challenging the winner between UW-Eau Claire and UW-River Falls.

Matches for first and third places will be held Saturday (Nov. 5) in Stevens Point. The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

UW-Oshkosh won the WIAC Tournament in 1990, 1991, 1994 and 2008.
