Titans Take Fourth At WIAC Tournament

After opening up with a close win in the first set against UW-Platteville, the UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team couldn't find its offensive rhythm from that point in losing 24-26, 25-14, 25-18, 25-17 to UW-Platteville on Friday (Nov. 5) and 25-19, 25-17, 25-6 to UW-Whitewater on Saturday (Nov. 6) in the WIAC Tournament in Eau Claire.

UW-Oshkosh (24-13), the WIAC regular season co-champion, exploded for 20 kills in the first set against UW-Platteville (30-3) to take a 1-0 set lead in the WIAC semifinal match. After hitting .235 in the first set, the Titans did not hit above .100 in sets two, three or four to end the match with a .130 hitting percentage.

Aleisha Bagin (So. • West Bend) led the Titans with 23 kills on 65 attempts and added 10 digs and two service aces. Robyn Eggert (Fr. • Woodridge, Ill.) provided 18 digs, Morgan Liebetrau (So. • West Bend) dished out 43 assists and Andrea Felton (So. • New Berlin) and Andrea Smith (Sr. • Fond du Lac) each had seven kills.

UW-Oshkosh only registered 21 total kills and where hampered by 10 receiving errors in their loss to UW-Whitewater (28-8) in the WIAC third-place match.

Smith and Bagin each had seven kills for UW-Oshkosh. Liebetrau provided 19 assists, Eggert 13 digs and Anna Ruhland (Fr. • Mazomanie) picked up eight digs.

UW-Oshkosh, who had beaten both the Pioneers and Warhawks during the regular season, entered the weekend as the 21st ranked team in the NCAA Division III.
