Titans Knock Off Warhawks In Five-Set Affair

UW-Oshkosh emerged as the lone unbeaten women's volleyball team in the WIAC following its 3-2 victory over UW-Whitewater on Wednesday (Oct. 6) in Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh, which has won 19 of its last 20 five-set matches, took the match from UW-Whitewater in set scores of 13-25, 27-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12. The Titans (16-2/4-0 WIAC) entered the contest ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the Warhawks (15-5/5-1 WIAC) 11th.

UW-Oshkosh hit .202 for the match with 51 kills, 12 blocks and two service aces, while UW-Whitewater hit .216 with 62 kills, 11 blocks and five service aces.

Aleisha Bagin (So. • West Bend) tallied a match-high 17 kills for the Titans, while Jordyn Bratel (Fr. • Milwaukee) counted 10 and Andrea Smith (Sr. • Fond du Lac) eight.

UW-Oshkosh also received 22 assists from Morgan Liebetrau (So. • West Bend), 21 assists and 11 digs from Andrea Felton (So. • New Berlin), and 23 digs and three service aces from Christina Cahoon (Sr. • Watertown).

UW-Whitewater had four players with double-digit kills as Caitlin Higan totaled 15, Shaela Hayden 14, Sofia Sanchez 13 and Katy Krajnak 10.

The Warhawks also obtained 49 assists and 12 digs from Christina DeGroot and 34 digs from Alyssa Bauer.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Newport News, Va., to play Virgina Wesleyan College and Christopher Newport University (Va.) on Friday (Oct. 8).
