Felton Named WIAC Player Of The Week

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has selected UW-Oshkosh right-side hitter Andrea Felton (So. • New Berlin) as its Women's Volleyball Player of the Week. The award is for matches held Oct. 4-10.

Felton totaled 66 assists, 63 digs, 39 kills and seven service aces as UW-Oshkosh won four of its five contests, including a five-set victory over WIAC rival UW-Whitewater.

Felton began her week's activity by counting 21 assists, 11 digs and three kills in UW-Oshkosh's 3-2 (13-25, 27-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-12) road win over UW-Whitewater on Oct. 6. The victory moved the Titans into sole possession of first place in the WIAC standings with a 4-0 record.

Felton then earned all-tournament honors at the Christopher Newport University Invitational held Oct. 8-9 in Newport News. Va. UW-Oshkosh posted a 3-1 tournament record as Felton compiled a .286 hitting percentage with 53 digs, 45 assists, 26 kills and six service aces.

UW-Oshkosh opened the tournament with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 26-24) win over Virginia Wesleyan College and a 3-1 (25-13, 25-14, 22-25, 25-19) loss to Christopher Newport University on Oct. 8. Felton tallied 29 assists, nine digs, five kills and three digs against Virginia Wesleyan College and 16 digs, 12 kills and 11 assists against Christopher Newport University.

The Titans swept both of their opponents on Oct. 9 by 3-2 scores. UW-Oshkosh edged Washington & Lee University (Va.), 25-18, 25-15, 19-25, 21-25, 15-13, and Salisbury University (Md.), 25-13, 19-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-8. Felton marked 17 digs, nine kills and two assists against Washington & Lee University and 11 digs, 10 kills, three assists and two service aces against Salisbury University.

UW-Oshkosh (19-3) entered the week ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches, Christopher Newport University sixth and UW-Whitewater 11th.
