Titans Fall To Nationally Ranked Teams

Playing its best competition of the season, the UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team failed to win a match at the Carthage College Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 29-30) in Kenosha.

UW-Oshkosh (24-11) lost to Trinity University (Texas) 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 15-8 and Carthage College 25-23, 25-12, 25-12 on Friday and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 and Heidelberg University (Ohio) 25-13, 25-9, 25-23 on Saturday.

Aleisha Bagin (So. • West Bend) led the Titans against Trinity University (20-12) with 21 kills. Morgan Liebetrau (So. • West Bend) dished out 50 assists and Christina Cahoon (Sr. • Watertown) added 20 digs and three service aces. Andrea Smith (Sr. • Fond du Lac) compiled 14 digs, four service aces and seven kills and Andrea Felton (So. • New Berlin) amassed 14 kills and nine digs. Larissa Krumplitsch (So. • Appleton) led the Titans at the net with five blocks.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 17th in the latest NCAA Division III poll received 14 kills and two blocks from Bagin against 10th-ranked Carthage College (24-7). Cahoon tallied 19 digs, Smith eight digs and Liebetrau dished out 22 assists.

Bagin led the Titans against 12th ranked University of St. Thomas (27-4) with 11 kills and added eight digs. Alison Tomczyk (Fr. • Oshkosh) produced 26 assists, Sarah Petermann (Fr. • Appleton) scooped up 12 digs and Krumplitsch totaled six kills.

Bagin slammed down seven kills against 13th-ranked Heidelberg University (29-5). Heidi Gors (So. • Madison) added five kills and Anna Ruhland (Fr. • Mazomanie) tallied 10 digs. Felton dished out 12 assists, Smith had eight digs and Robyn Eggert (Fr. • Woodridge, Ill.) recorded five digs.

UW-Oshkosh, co-champions of the WIAC next plays Friday (Nov. 5) in the WIAC Tournament against either UW-La Crosse or UW-Platteville at 5 p.m.
