Titans Participate At Drake Relays, UW-Whitewater Meet

UW-Oshkosh won five events at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet and placed at the Drake University (Iowa) this week.

The Titans raced at Whitewater on Thursday (April 25), winning three running events and two throwing events.

Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) won the 100-meter dash in 12.45 seconds and finished fourth with a time of 26.67 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Libby Geisness took fifth in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.50, while Jayda Dobeck (Jr. • Green Bay) finished seventh and Meygan Benzing (Sr. • Juneau) finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:13.25 and 1:13.76 respectively.

Benzing then led the Titans in the 800-meter run with a first place time of 2:21.23. She was followed by Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) in fourth at 2:22.11 and Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly) in seventh at 2:25.86.

Four Titans placed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Josie Makurat (So. • Fairfax, Va.) ran a 12:45.96 for third, Julia Strasser (Jr. • South Milwaukee) a 12:48.27 for fourth, Katelyn Puetz (Jr. • Waterford) a 1301.24 for fifth and Ella Galaszewski (So. • West Allis) a 13:11.74 for sixth.

MacKenzie Dix (So. • Green Bay) wrapped up the individual running events with an eighth place time of 19:44.34 in the 5,000-meter run.

Haley Kanitz (So. • Menomonee Falls) collected fourth in the triple jump at 10.72 meters and eighth with a pole vault height of 3.26 meters. She was joined in the top eight in the triple jump with a 10.40-meter skip by Alexa Gordee (Fr. • Appleton).

A familiar face at the top of throwing event standings, Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) won both the hammer throw (55.10 meters) and shot put (14.03 meters) while placing eighth in the discus throw with a 38.76-meter mark. Bobbi Blahnik (So. • Algoma) joined her in the hammer throw with a best throw of 49.13 meters in the hammer throw.

During the 4x400-meter relay, Garcia, Benzing, Geisness and Drue Polka (Jr. • Round Lake Beach, Ill.) ran a 4:15.00 to win the event. They were joined by additional squads that placed fifth and sixth at 4:45.79 and 4:47.81.

At the Drake Relays on Thursday (April 25), Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) finished seventh with a time of 2:11.16.

The Titans will head to Platteville to compete for their 12th WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 3-4. Events are set to begin on 2:30 p.m. on May 3 and 11 a.m. on May 4.
