Titans Sit In Second After First Day Of WIAC Championship

WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team sits second in the WIAC Championship with 39 points after the first day of competition on Friday (Feb. 23).

UW-La Crosse leads the field with 137.5 points, followed by UW-Eau Claire who is tied with the Titans with 39 points. UW-Stout (37), UW-Stevens Point (21.5), UW-Whitewater (20), UW-River Falls (10) and UW-Platteville (8) round out the rest of the team standings.

Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) finished the long jump with a third-place place of 5.59 meters and Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) threw 13.31 meters for fifth in the shot put as Oshkosh's podium finishers in Friday's field event finishes.

In the mile run, Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) grabbed second with a 5:00.55 finish, followed by Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) in fourth with a time of 5:06.19.

Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankeny, Iowa) finished second in the 400-meter dash in 58.17 seconds, moving up to the sixth-fastest time in program history. Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum) ran a 59.20 for seventh.

The distance medley relay squad of Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha), Ava Pardo (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.), Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) and Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly) ran to third place in 12:22.55.

Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) and Andrea Glaz (Jr. • Oak Creek) will run in the final round of the 60-meter dash after qualifying through the preliminary rounds on Friday.

The Titans will return to the track for the second and final day of the WIAC Championship tomorrow at 10 a.m.
