Titans Finish Titan Challenge In First Place

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team placed first in its Titan Challenge at the Kolf Sports Center on Saturday (Feb. 17), scoring 153 points.

Following the Titans was UW-Eau Claire's 151 points. Northern Michigan University scored 64 points for third while UW-Stevens Point, St. Norbert College, Carroll University and Lawrence University all finished in order with at least 24 points scored. Lakeland University did not score points in the meet.

Meygan Benzing (Sr. • Juneau) won the mile run, running a 5:11.31

Ava Pardo (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.) finished seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.91

After moving up to ninth in program history with a 9.09-second time in the preliminary round of the 60-meter hurdles, Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) finished the final round in third in 9.22 seconds.

Andrea Glaz (Jr. • Oak Creek) grabbed the 60-meter dash crown in 7.88 seconds while Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) followed in fifth in 7.95 seconds.

Titans swept the top-three positions in the 800-meter run, led by Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha) with a time of 2:20.60. Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) finished second in 2:22.36 and Benzing finished third in 2:23.62. Josie Makurat (So. • Fairfax, Va.) also took eighth with a 2.29.02 finish.

Glaz finished the 200-meter dash with a second-place time of 26.27 seconds. Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum) raced 26.41 seconds for fifth place and Jayda Dobeck (Jr. • Green Bay) finished in seventh with a 26.63-second time.

Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) took the top spot in the 3,000-meter run by racing a 10:09.68. She was joined in the top-eight by Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly), who finished third in 10:26.42 and Gwen Feitl (So. • Wheaton, Ill.), who took seventh in 10:54.81.

The Titan 4x400-meter relay squads placed first and fifth with 3:54.46 and 4:17.75 finishes.

Hunt finished the high jump with a best height of 1.59 meters for third place and Aimee Footit (So. • Oshkosh) placed eighth with a 1.49-meter jump.

On the pole vault, Haley Kanitz (So. • Menomonee Falls) had a best height of 3.27 meters, which was good for a fourth-place finish.

Alexa Gordee (Fr. • Appleton) finished third in the long jump with a best distance of 5.31 meters and fourth in the triple jump with a 10.64-meter skip. Kanitz joined her in the triple jump with a best distance of 10.57 meters for sixth place.

Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) won the 20-lb. weight throw by throwing 18.77 meters, the sixth-furthest in program history. It is also the second-furthest in the nation this season. Bobbi Blahnik (Fr. • Algoma) placed third with a 16.20-meter cast.

Masloroff also grabbed second in the shot put at 13.47 meters and Blahnik took seventh, throwing 12.11 meters.

The distance medley squad placed fourth at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open on Friday night (Feb. 16) with a time of 11:51.54.

The 13-time conference champion Titans will compete for their first title since 2012 during the two-day WIAC Championship at UW-Whitewater. The first event begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and (Feb. 23) and at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 24).
