Titans Race In Romeoville, Ripon

ROMEOVILLE, Ill./RIPON- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team competed at the Lewis University (Ill.) Invite and Ripon College Invite on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 2-3).

The Titans won the scored Ripon meet with 137 points in the 12-team field.

Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankeny, Iowa) and Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum) collected fifth and sixth place in the 400-meter dash as Oshkosh's only top-eight finishes at Lewis on Friday. LaVoi now owns the ninth-fastest finish in the event in program history and Steger is now 18th.

LaVoi also moved up to 19th in program history with a 26.25-second finish in the 200-meter dash.

Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) led Oshkosh with a first-place finish of 2:17.14 in the 800-meter run, followed by Olivia Stenzel (So. • Sturgeon Bay) at 2:21.00 for third and Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) at 2:24.71 for fourth.

The mile run crown also went to a Titan and this time it was Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) with a 5:05.97 finish. Meygan Benzing (Sr. • Juneau) took third in a 5:17.67 finish and Gracie Buchinger (Fr. • Kimberly) grabbed fifth in 5:20.44.

Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) won the high jump with a best height of 1.62 meters and both Aimee Footit (So. • Oshkosh) and Anna Bubolz (Sr. • Fremont) jumped 1.51 meters for fourth and fifth.

Alexa Gordee (Fr. • Appleton) finished the long jump in second with a best distance of 5.37 meters and third in the triple jump with a 10.50-meter jump. The Titans collected another top-three spot in the pole vault with a 3.33-meter mark from Haley Kanitz (So. • Menomonee Falls).

Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) won both the shot put and 20-lb. weight throw with best tries of 13.48 and 17.45 meters, respectively. Bobbi Blahnik (Jr. • Algoma) threw 14.51 meters for third and Abi Masloroff (Fr. • Franklin) finished sixth in the weight throw while Brooklyn Manz (Fr. • Kiel) took eighth in the shot put.

Buchinger, Lehman, Drue Polka (Jr. • Round Beach Lake, Ill.) and Zoe Watson (Fr. • Kiel) raced to second in the 4x4000-meter relay with a time of 4:16.85.

The Titans return to action next Saturday (Feb. 10) for the UW-Whitewater Midwest Elite Invitational.
