UW-Oshkosh Track and Field Individuals, Team Named USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their 2023 All-Academic honorees on Thursday (July 13) with six Titans on the list. The team also earned All-Academic honors.

A Nursing major from Mukwonago, Micky Barrette owns 3.442 cumulative grade point average. The junior threw a personal-best 141' 11 (43.27m) discus throw at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 14. The mark sits 14th in outdoor school history.

Katie Fruth is a senior from Union Grove, majoring in Nursing. She owns a cumulative grade point average of 3.929 at UW-Oshkosh. She was named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American in 2021 and 2022 and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District this year. Fruth sits 18th all-time in the indoor shot put and 11th in the outdoor shot put with casts of 44' 9" (13.64m) and 46' 1" (14.05m) this season.

Libby Geisness is majoring in Elementary Education. The Waukesha South High School graduate has a 3.468 cumulative grade point average as a junior. She qualified for her first NCAA Championship in the winter. At the meet, she ran a 2:14.65 in the 800-meter run, finishing 15th in the preliminary round.

From Lemont, Ill., Megan Hunt is a Rehabilitation Science major with a 3.650 cumulative grade point average. The sophomore qualified for the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the long jump. She is tied for fifth in the in the outdoor long jump at 18' 8 1/2" (7.50m) and sits eighth in the heptathlon with a score of 4,402 pts.

Cyna Madigan is a sophomore from Rosendale, majoring in Mathematics. Her cumulative grade point average sits at a 3.629. Madigan earned CSC Academic All-District honors this season as well. She earned two All-America nods in the 800-meter run this season. She finished eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 2:21.26 and third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2:10.35. She also set the UW-Oshkosh indoor 600-meter run record at 1:35.17 on February 4 at the Ripon College Red Hawk Invitational.

Brenna Masloroff, a Franklin native, is a Special Education Cross-Category and Elementary and Middle School Education major with a 3.708 cumulative grade point average. She also earned CSC Academic All-District honors this spring. At the NCAA Indoor Championships this season, Masloroff finished sixth in the 20-lb. weight throw, casting 59' 5.75" for her first career All-America honor.

In total, 697 earned All-Academic honors, including others from the WIAC. UW-La Crosse led all Division III schools with 33 selections, UW-Eau Claire had 16, UW-Whitewater had seven, UW-Stevens Point had four, UW-Stout had three, UW-Platteville had two, and UW-River Falls had one.

With a cumulative team grade point average of 3.42, UW-Oshkosh was among the 215 programs earned All-Academic distinction. Six other WIAC schools also earned a mention.

The criteria to be named an All-Academic Team is a cumulative team grade point average of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester, computed by the USTFCCCA.
