Keene Receives CoSIDA Academic All-District Accolades

UW-Oshkosh's Ashton Keene was named to the 2020 NCAA Division III Academic All-District® 6 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The 12-member squad, comprised of student-athletes from institutions in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.

Honorees selected Academic All-District® will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced during the last week of June.

Keene, a senior from Pewaukee, graduated this spring with a 3.90 grade point average. She majored in both secondary education and Spanish.

Keene earned All-America honors last fall with her 39th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. She completed the 6,000-meter race of 280 runners in a time of 22:13. Keene also placed 17th at the Division III Midwest Regional and 13th at the WIAC Championship this past season.

In track & field, Keene won the 3,000-meter run while finishing second in the 5,000-meter run at the 2020 WIAC Indoor Championship. She defeated 20 other challengers in the 3,000-meter race with her time of 10:18.71. Keene was scheduled to compete in the 5,000-meter run at the 2020 Division III Indoor Championship but that meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keene received mention on UW-Oshkosh's Dean's List all eight semesters of her college attendance. The four-time WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll member was a tutor at UW-Oshkosh, the Winnebago County Literacy Center and in the Oshkosh Public Schools.

Keene was one of six WIAC student-athletes selected to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District® 6 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team. The other honorees were Heather Beecher from UW-Stout, Skye Digman from UW-La Crosse, Johanna Meister from UW-Platteville, Shelby Nickels from UW-Whitewater and Michelle Petkovsek from UW-Stevens Point.
