Abhold Chosen As WIAC Field Athlete Of The Week

UW-Oshkosh's Elizabeth Abhold was selected as one of the two WIAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award recipients for meets held April 4-10.

Abhold, the league's top field performer, won the hammer throw while finishing second in the shot put and fifth in the discus at the Rex Foster Invitational held April 10 in Whitewater.

Abhold defeated 13 other contestants in the hammer throw with her winning distance of 174-1. Her measurement, which was more than 12 feet beyond her nearest competitor, ranks fourth in the NCAA Division III this season. Jasmine Williams of Northern Michigan University finished second to Abhold with a cast of 161-10.

Abhold placed second with a distance of 42-1 1/4 in the shot put and fifth with a mark of 120-11 in the discus.

Nothern Michigan University scored 239 points to win the five-team meet. UW-Oshkosh placed second with 215 points and UW-Whitewater third with 214.

Meg Heafy of UW-La Crosse was named the WIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
