Titans Host Blugolds For WIAC Opener On Saturday

OSHKOSH, Wis.–The UW-Oshkosh women's soccer team will seek to continue its winning ways when it hosts UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 1) for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener. Kickoff for Titans Senior Night is 7 p.m. at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

UW-Oshkosh (3-4-2), the reigning WIAC regular season and postseason champion, is coming off a 2-0 victory at Carroll University on Wednesday (Sept. 28). Rylie Kaufmann and Grace Herrmann notched goals while goalkeeper Mallory Kerhin registered a shutout during Wednesday's win.

Gabby Born paces the Titans with 12 points on four goals and four assists on the year. Kaufmann and Greta Steines, who have a team-leading five goals apiece, follow with 11 and 10 points, respectively, this season for the Titans. Herrmann, Maris Heun and Anika Roush have each added two goals.

Kerhin has a 2-2-1 record for the Titans with 34 saves and a 1.45 goals-against average.

UW-Oshkosh is outscoring opponents, 26-16, this season while attempting 144 shots, including 75 on goal. The Titans defense has allowed 111 shots, including 58 on goal.

UW-Eau Claire heads into the WIAC opener with a 5-3-1 record, outscoring opponents, 16-8, and putting 58 of its 105 shots on goal. The Blugolds, who have ceded just 89 shots through nine contests, have won their last two matches by scores of 2-0 over Bethel University (Minn.) and 3-1 over Concordia College (Minn.).

Megan Hansen leads UW-Eau Claire with 11 points on a team-best four goals and three assists.

Blugolds goalkeeper Kennedy Boll is 5-3-1 with 35 saves and a 0.92 goals-against average.

UW-Eau Claire owns a 24-14-3 record in the series with UW-Oshkosh since 1993. However, the Titans have won three consecutive meetings with the Blugolds and 10 of the last 12. Last season UW-Oshkosh defeated UW-Eau Claire, 2-1, during the regular season before ousting the Blugolds from the 2021 WIAC Tournament with a 3-2 overtime victory at J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
