Nikki Arneson, WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlight

Each week during the 2020-21 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a "Student-Athlete Spotlight" Q & A segment. Why did you choose to attend UW-Oshkosh?

I chose to attend UW-Oshkosh because of the amazing team atmosphere and coaching staff. I knew I was going to get the opportunity to compete for championships on the court and receive an education from one of the best nursing schools in the state. Ultimately my decision to attend UW-Oshkosh was a no-brainer.

None

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?

The WIAC is a very competitive conference that guarantees good competition every game. Being a Division III athlete is very rewarding because each one of us is out there practicing and playing, solely on the love for the game.

What is your greatest sports moment?

When our team defeated Bethany Lutheran College this past season to clinch back-to-back NCAA Sweet 16 appearances.

Do you have any words of advice for younger/upcoming student-athletes?

Always work hard – no matter if it's on the court or in the classroom – as it will pay off in the end. Also, have fun with it as these are some of the best years of your life!

What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates?

Going to Taco Tuesday at Los Jaripeos!

If you could trade places for a day with a person, who would it be and why?

Sabrina Ionescu, so I could see what a day in the life of a professional basketball player would be.

What is your dream job?

Pediatric nurse.

Three things on your "bucket list"?

Go to Hawaii
Learn how to surf
Play in the NCAA national championship game

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?

Eat a sandwich from Jimmy John's and drink a pineapple mango smoothie.

What is your biggest "pet-peeve"?

Bad drivers.
