Madigan Wins 800-Meter Run, Titans Take Fourth at WIAC Championships

WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team took fourth in the 2023 WIAC Outdoor Championships (Presented by Culver's) in Whitewater.

Entering the day in seventh with seven points, UWO accumulated 55 points with a first-place finish, two second place finishes and two third place finishes. Oshkosh finished with 62 points, behind UW-La Crosse's 363.5 points, UW-Eau Claire's 156 points and UW-Whitewater's 85.5 points.

Track Event Results

The Titans' 800-meter run title was defended by sophomore Cyna Madigan with a 2:13.89 finish. Zanzie Demco, who graduated last year, won the event at the 2022 meet.

Sophomore Amelia Lehman grabbed second-place in the 1,500-meter run in 4:34.19, a personal record and the 10th-fastest finish in program history.

The 4x100-meter relay squad (Molly Greeninger, Rachel Castelli, Kyra Huber and Devin Hable) took third with a time of 48.12 seconds, the team's fastest time this season.

Senior Rachel Castelli finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.07 seconds, the fastest time by a Titan this season and the eighth fastest time in school history. It was also good for third place and an All-WIAC Third Team nod.

Field Event Results

Senior Mikayla Jackson finished the high jump in second with a best height of 5' 1.25" (1.56m).

Post-Meet Awards

After the meet, senior Tricia Cich was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action on Friday, May 12 for the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
