Oshkosh Women Place Fifth in UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team finished the two-day UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge fifth in the 19-team field with 49 points. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 259.833 team points.

Track Event Results

In the 100-meter dash finals, senior Rachel Castelli took fifth with a 12.58 second finish and sophomore Devin Hable finished eighth in 13.14 seconds.

Castelli also placed in the 200-meter dash, running the event in 25.82 seconds, and grabbing third.

Sophomore Cyna Madigan led the Titans in the 800-meter run with a second place, 2:14.67 finish. Junior Libby Geisness finished in 2:18.25 for seventh place.

Sophomore Amelia Lehman grabbed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:37.83.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Meygan Benzing paced Oshkosh with an 11:54.07, fifth place finish.

The 4x100-meter relay squads finished second and fourth with times of 50.82 seconds and 52.94 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay squad ran a 4:37.71 for third.

Field Event Results

In the discus throw, junior Micky Barrette took fifth with a cast of 132' 8" (40.45m).

Senior Katie Fruth finished the javelin throw with a 101' (30.80m) for seventh place.

Heptathlon Event Results

Senior Mikayla Jackson took fifth in the 200-meter dash in 26.92 seconds.

Sophomore Megan Hunt finished the 100-meter hurdles in eighth with a time of 15.98 seconds.

Jackson took sixth in the long jump with a best distance of 16' 9 1/4" (5.11m) and Hunt finished eighth, jumping 16' 4 1/2" (4.99m).

In the shot put, Jackson casted 31' 4" (9.55m), finishing in eighth.

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action next weekend at both the 113th Drake University (Iowa) Relays and the UW-Eau Claire Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational.
