Women’s Track and Field Headed to Phil Esten Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team is ranked in the top-10 in one event and sophomore Cyna Madigan is both ranked in the top-10 nationally and leads the WIAC.

#EventSquad Rankings

Oshkosh is ranked ninth in this week's USTFCCCA 800-meter run #EventSquad. Madigan, junior Libby Geisness, freshman Josie Makurat and junior Meygan Benzing average a 2:17.50 finish.

Individual National Rankings

Madigan remains ranked seventh in the nation and first in the WIAC with a 2:12.48 time in the 800-meter run.

Last Week's Highlights

Oshkosh placed seventh among a field of 13 teams at the UW-Platteville last Friday (April 14), scoring 41 points. Freshman Jamie Catania was the sole Titan to win an event, running a 19:57.66 in the 5,000-meter run open. Senior Rachel Castelli set a personal record and team season best in the 100-meter dash with a finish of 12.28 seconds. She set her second career best in the 200-meter dash with a fourth place, team season best and fourth-fastest time in program history 25.48 second time. Junior Micky Barrette set the final career record with a 142' (43.27m) cast in the discus throw.

Where the Titans are Competing

The Titans will head back to UW-La Crosse for the second time of four times this outdoor season for the Phil Esten Challenge on Friday and Saturday (April 21-22). The meet will start at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
