Titans to Compete in Nationals, Hold Two Top-Five #EventSquads

OSHKOSH, WIS.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field squad is sending five athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships this weekend, holding two top-five #EventSquads heading into the meet.

#EventSquad Rankings

Sophomore Cyna Madigan, junior Libby Geisness, freshman Josie Makurat and junior Meygan Benzing make up the 800-meter run squad that ranks fourth nationally with an average finish of 2:14.40.

Ranking fifth, junior Brenna Masloroff, sophomore Bobbi Blahnik, junior Micky Barrette and senior Katie Fruth average a 16.11-meter (52 feet 10 ½ inches) mark in the 20-lb. weight throw.

National Qualifiers

Madigan qualified for the national meet in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.26. Geisness also qualified with a 2:13.33 finish.

Sophomore Amelia Lehman was the sole qualifier in the mile run, qualifying with a 4:54.06 finish.

Masloroff and Fruth both qualified for the shot put with throws of 13.52 and 13.64 meters, respectively. Masloroff also qualified for the weight throw, throwing 18.28 meters. 

Last Week's Highlights

In the final qualifiers on March 4, the Titans won six events at the Ripon College (Wis.) and Wartburg College (Iowa) meets. Senior Rachel Castelli placed first in the 60-meter dash in Ripon with a time of 7.90 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a 25.86 second finish. Junior Alaina Wagner also won, running the 400-meter dash in 1:00.53. Masloroff won the shot put and weight throw, throwing 13.36 and 17.62 meters, respectively. 

Where the Titans are Competing

The Titans will compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships on March 10-11 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
