Six Event Wins Help Titans Sail to Titan Challenge Win

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The No. 24 nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team won the Titans Challenge on Saturday at Kolf Sports Center. They scored 150 points, followed in second by UW-Eau Claire with 130.33 points. Northern Michigan University took third (62.5), St. Norbert College (Wis.) took fourth (47) and UW-Stout took fifth (38).

Track Events

Senior Meygan Benzing took second in the mile run with a personal season best of 5:20.45. An honorable mention finish, freshman Katie Krause set a season best, finishing in 5:58.27.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Cyna Madigan set a team season best with a time of 58.98 seconds, winning the race. Junior Alaina Wagner took second in 1:01.47 and junior Vanessa Jenneman took sixth in 1:02.01. 

Sophomore Molly Greeninger and senior Rachel Castelli each finished the 60-meter dash in 7.86 seconds, placing them at 11th in school history. Greeninger placed second and Castelli placed fifth. Sophomore Andrea Glaz took fifth with a time of 7.94 seconds.

Senior Libby Geisness grabbed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.65, followed in third by freshman Josie Makurat (2:16.93). Benzing took fifth with a 2:18.20 time and freshman Olivia Stenzel took eighth (2:22.32). All four set personal season bests. 

Castelli won the 200-meter dash in a team season best 26.05 seconds. Glaz finished fourth with a time of 26.43 seconds. Greeninger and junior Liz Hren took sixth and seventh with times of 26.61 and 26.72 seconds, respectively. They both set personal season bests.

Sophomore Amelia Lehman won the 3,000-meter run with a team season best 10:02.73, which also ranks eighth in program history. 

Oshkosh ran all three of the teams competing in the distance medley relay. They recorded times of 14:22.93, 14:45.33 and 14:54.87.
Oshkosh's 4x400-meter relay team won with a 4:12.33 finish.

Field Events

Sophomore Megan Hunt finished the high jump with a 1.52-meter mark for fifth place. 

In the pole vault, freshman Haley Kanitz took sixth with a mark of 3.41 meters.

Junior Vanessa Jenneman led Oshkosh with a 5.43-meter jump in the long jump for third place. She set a new season best for the Titans by 0.10 meters. Hunt took fourth with a 5.37-meter jump and junior Anna Bubolz grabbed fifth with a mark of 5.35 meters.

Junior Brenna Masloroff won the 20-lb. weight throw with a mark of 18.28 meters, setting a new team season best. Senior Micky Barrette grabbed seventh with a 15.66-meter throw which was a personal season best.

Masloroff finished seventh in the shot put, throwing 12.73 meters.

Looking Forward

The Titans return to action for the WIAC Championships in Menomonie on Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25.
