Titans Hold Four Top-Five #EventSquad Rankings; Will Compete in Whitewater Saturday

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team was ranked No. 23 in the nation, holds four top-five #EventSquad rankings and four top-10 marks in this week's review of the national rankings. 

Team National Ranking

Oshkosh stays in the top-25 for the third week in a row after USTFCCCA released their national poll on Tuesday afternoon. WIAC competitors also ranked included UW-La Crosse (No. 1), UW-Eau Claire (No. 19) and UW-Whitewater (No. 22).

The Titans hold four top-five #EventSquad rankings this week. The 20-lb. weight throw squad made up of junior Brenna Masloroff, sophomore Bobbi Blahnik, junior Micky Barrette and senior Katie Fruth ranks third with a 15.94-meter average.  The Titans' 800-meter run squad, made up of sophomore Cyna Madigan, junior Libby Geisness, freshman Josie Makurat and junior Meygan Benzing ranks fourth with a 2:27.17 average. The women rank fifth in both the 60-meter dash and the shot put. The 60-meter dash squad includes senior Rachel Castelli, sophomore Andrea Glaz, sophomore Molly Greeninger and senior Mikayla Jackson. They average a 7.86 second finish. The members of the shot put squad that averages 15.94 meters includes Fruth, Masloroff, Blahnik and Barrette.

Individual National Rankings

Madigan ranks third nationally in the 800-meter run with a 2:12.60 finish. In the shot put, Fruth sits at ninth with a 13.64-meter throw. Masloroff ranks nationally in both the weight throw and shot put, sixth (17.74 meters) and 10th (13.52 meters), respectively.

Last Week's Highlights

Oshkosh won the Ripon College Red Hawk Invite with 159 points last weekend, winning six events. Castelli won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.58 seconds. Madigan set the school record in the 600-meter dash with a 1:35.17 finish, beating the previous record by more than a second and a half. In distance events, sophomore Amelia Lehman won the mile run in 5:11.19 and junior Lauren Urban took the 3,000-meter run with an 11:40.25 finish. The Titans' 4x400-meter relay took first, winning in 4:15.86. Masloroff grabbed first in the shot put with a 13.52-meter mark, also leading Division III throwers in the weight throw with a second-place, 17.30-meter throw. She finished directly behind a Wisconsin Badger.

The Titans compete in the UW-Whitewater Midwest Elite Invitational this Saturday, with events beginning at 11 a.m.
