Titans Garner National Recognition; Set to Compete in Red Hawk Invitational

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team is ranked No. 17 in the nation and in the top-10 in five events after the first #EventSquad ranking was released on Monday.

Team National Rankings

The Titans are ranked No. 17 after the second week of polls was released by USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon with 53.87 team points. Other WIAC competitors UW-La Crosse (No. 1), UW-Eau Claire (No. 15) and UW-Whitewater (No. 23) are also ranked.

In the first national #EventSquad ranking of the season, Oshkosh ranks in the top-10 in five events. In the 60-meter dash, the Titans sit at third with an average time of 7.86 seconds. They are also third in both the 800-meter run and weight throw with averages of 2:17.27 and 15.94 meters, respectively. In the shot put, they rank fifth with an average throw of 12.63 meters and they rank sixth in the 200-meter dash with an average time of 25.94.

Individual National Rankings

Sophomore Cyna Madigan is third nationally in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.60. Senior Katie Fruth and junior Brenna Masloroff both rank in the top-10 in the shot put with marks of 13.64 and 13.51 meters, respectively. Masloroff also ranks fifth in the 20-lb. weight throw with a best throw of 17.74 meters.

Last Week's Highlights

Senior Rachel Castelli won the 200-meter dash in the Warren Bowlus Multi & Open hosted by UW-Stout with a time of 26.82. Sophomore Andrea Glaz and junior Alaina Wagner followed in second and third with times of 26.87 and 26.99 seconds, respectively. Castelli also finished in third in the 60-meter dash (7.94). Freshmen Olivia Stenzel and Josie Makurat, senior Meygan Benzing and Wagner took third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:26.06. In field events, freshman Haley Kanitz grabbed second in the pole vault (3.43 meters) and third in the triple jump (10.44 meters), Vanessa Jenneman took second in the long jump (5.19 meters), Masloroff took second in the 20-lb. weight throw and Fruth took third in the shot put (2.46 meters).

Cyna Madigan won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.85 in the Aurora University (Ill.) Spartan Grand Prix. Libby Geisness followed with a 2:16.79 finish, taking third.

The Titans are headed to Ripon on Saturday to compete in the Red Hawk Invitational. The meet begins at 10:45 a.m.
