OSHKOSH, Wis.- After taking first in the Ripon Winter Open, the UW-Oshkosh women's indoor track and field team returns home on Dec. 10 to host their home-opening Early Bird Invitational.

Teams from Concordia Univ. Chicago (Ill.), Viterbo Univ. (Wis.), Northern Michigan Univ., Carthage College (Wis.), Ripon College (Wis.), Carroll Univ. (Wis.), Edgewood College (Wis.), Texas Lutheran Univ. and Auburn Univ. (Ala.) will be competing at Kolf Sports Center.

The 3,000-meter run will kick off the track events at 11:30 a.m., followed by the 60-meter hurdle and dash preliminaries, mile run, 400-meter dash, 6-meter hurdle and dash finals, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, 5,000-meter run and 4x400-meter relay. The pole vault, long jump and shot put all start at 11:30 a.m. for the field events. The triple jump starts 20 minutes after the end of the long jump and the weight throw follows shot put.

Rachel Castelli is seventh in Division III with a 7.84 finish in the 60-meter dash. Cyna Madigan ranks second in Division III after a 2:12.60 finish in the 800-meter run. In the 3,000-meter run, Amelia Lehman is sixth in the nation with a finish of 10:06.60. Megan Hunt is currently sixth in Division III in the high jump with a mark of 1.57 meters. Brenna Masloroff is second in the nation in both the shot put and 20-lb weight throw. Katie Fruth is ninth in the nation with a 12.95 meter mark in the shot put. Hunt is also ranked nationally in the pentathlon, with a 2,713 point score, good for ninth.

The Track & Field teams will be doing collection drives for the Oshkosh Day by Day Warming Shelter and Father Carr's. The Warming Shelter, which is a homeless shelter, is looking for warm (thick, insulated) gloves or mittens, packs of hand/foot warmers, bike locks and sleeping bags. Father Carr's, who provides services for the less fortunate in the community is running a toy drive. Toys valued at $20-25 will be passed out to those families. Some suggestions from Father Carr's are LEGO sets, dolls, board games and remote control cars. The toys do not need to be wrapped, but should come in a bag or box.
