Two More Records Fall In Titans’ Home Opener

OSHKOSH, Wis.- For the second consecutive week, the UW-Oshkosh men's track & field team set two new records. This time at home for the Early Bird Open on Saturday (Dec. 9).

Charlie Nolan (So. • Normal, Ill.) broke the heptathlon record with 5,380 combined points, besting the previous mark set by Aden Sears (Jr. • Eureka, Ill.) just last year by almost 100 points. He ran the 60-meter dash in 6.96 seconds, marked 7.15 meters in the long jump, threw for 11.87 meters in the shot put, vaulted 2.01 meters in the high jump, raced the 60-meter hurdles in 8.40 seconds, finished the pole vault with a 4.20-meter best and finished the 1,000-meter run in 2:29.52. All his finishes but the 1,000-meter run were better than Sears' previous record-holding marks. Nolan's 5,380 points also sits eighth-most in NCAA Division III history. Sears followed Nolan in the heptathlon with a 5,283-point performance for second place.

The second record to fall in the Kolf Sports Center on Saturday was the 200-meter dash. Londyn Little (Jr. • Columbia, Ill.) bested his previous program record of 21.72 seconds with a 21.65-second finish in a field dominated by the Titans. Rashaad Henderson (Sr. • Racine) took second with a 21.96-second finish (third-fastest) and Nolan Milas (Fr. • Virgil, Ill.) took third in 22.13 (eighth-fastest).

The Titans owned all eight spots in the final round of the 60-meter dash and while just six finished the race. Davian Willems (So. • Oshkosh) finished in 6.84 seconds, Ray Talbert (Jr. • Waterloo, Iowa) raced a 6.86 and Ja'siah Williams (So. • South Bend, Ind.) grabbed a 6.89-second time.

UW-Oshkosh swept the top-three spots in the 400-meter dash. Weston Lerdal (Jr. • Neenah) ran a 51.00, Matthew Eiden (Fr. • Stevens Point) ran a 51.11 and Lucas Koerselman (Fr. • West Des Moines, Iowa) finished in 52.29 seconds.

Dwight Hosni (Jr. • Cedarburg) led the Titans with a first-place finish of 1:52.71 in the 800-meter run for the eighth-fastest time ever by a Titan. He was followed by Reid Marquardt (Sr. • Peshtigo) in 1:55.36 and Lucas Nicholson (Fr. • Pewaukee) in 1:55.56.

In the 3,000-meter run, Jake Krause (Jr. • Hortonville) and Cameron Cullen (So. • Kewaunee) took second and third with times of 8:28.42 and 8:31.03, respectively. Krause now ranks ninth in program history with the finish.

Jett Breed (Fr. • Oswego, Ill.), Hosni, Marquardt and Henderson won the UW-Oshkosh-filled 4x400-meter relay by finishing in 3:24.93.

As the only competitor in the high jump and pole vault to finish the events, Kyle Wisniewski (Fr. • New London) and Ethan Stukenberg (Fr. • Edwardsville, Ill.) won with best heights of 2.01 and 4.45 meters.

Joshua Rivers (So. • Chicago, Ill.) placed first in the long jump with a 7.48-meter mark and Ben Lissa (Fr. • East Moline, Ill.) won the triple jump, flying 13.38 meters.

In the throws, UW-Oshkosh was represented in the top-three by a 15.15-meter cast by Isaiah Isom (So. • Lansing, Ill.) in the shot put.

The Titans return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20, competing in the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational.
