Sears Sets Hurdles Record, Titans Finish Second at WIAC Championships

WHITEWATER, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team took second in the 2023 WIAC Outdoor Championships (Presented by Culver's) in Whitewater.

Entering the day in fourth with 27 points, UWO accumulated 123 points with four first place finishes, six second place finishes and one third place finish. Oshkosh finished with 150 points, behind UW-La Crosse's 245 points and ahead of UW-Whitewater's 124 points.

Track Event Results

The 4x100-meter relay squad (Joey Kean, Londyn Little, Brett Clavijo and Keegan Cullison) successfully defended their title from last year and set the Rex Foster Track Complex record at 41.04 seconds, besting Buffalo State's 41.11 second time in 2010.

Senior Steven Potter won the 1,500-meter run for the second time in three years with a time of 3:56.82.

The Titans grabbed the top two spots in the 200-meter run with a title time of 21.63 second by sophomore Londyn Little and a second-place time of 22.04 seconds by junior Rashaad Henderson.

Taking second place and an All-WIAC Second Team nod in the 110-meter hurdles was freshman Aden Sears in 14.43 seconds; the fastest time in school history by a whole tenth of a second.

Potter collected All-WIAC Second Team honors in the 800-meter finals with a time of 1:52.38.

Senior John Ford took second in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal record 53.36 seconds, collecting All-WIAC Second Team.

The 4x400-meter relay squad (Londyn Little, Reid Marquardt, Ryan Potter and Devin Williams) finished second with a season-best 3:15.82.

Field Event Results

Senior Jonathan Wilburn became the first triple jumper from any WIAC school to win the event at the outdoor conference meet for three consecutive years with a 50' 8.75" (15.46m) skip. He has combined for seven triple jump crowns between the indoor and outdoor seasons, the most in WIAC history. Wilburn entered the meet tied at six titles with Ajamu Olaniyan, who competed for UW-La Crosse between 1989 and 1992.

Freshman Kieran Maude took home All-WIAC Honorable Mention in the shot put with a best cast of 49' 5" (15.06m)

Multi Event Results

Freshman Charlie Nolan moved the second all-time on the UWO decathlon leaderboard when he scored 6,724 points for a second-place finish at conference. In Saturday's events, he won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.34 seconds.

Post-Meet Awards

After the meet, Potter was named to the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action on Friday, May 12 for the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
