Titans Debut Outdoor Season With Strong Showing in Platteville and St. Louis

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The UW-Oshkosh men's track and field team started the outdoor season at the unscored UW-Platteville Pioneer Opener and Washington University in St. Louis Distance Carnival meets on Saturday (April 1).

Pioneer Opener Track Events

Freshman Cameron Cullen grabbed fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:05.40. Freshmen Owen Bostwick (4:16.26), Trent Chadwick (4:17.50) and Joe Hertel (4:19.63) also finished in the top-20.

As the only Titan in the 800-meter run, sophomore Nick Vey finished third, running 2:00.30.

The 4x400-meter relay squad made up of sophomores Joe Hertel and Zach Nelson, freshman Zach Osmanski and freshman Nick Vey ran a 3:41.23 and finishing in seventh place.

Pioneer Opener Field Events

In the pole vault, junior Eli Tranel took the event crown with a mark of 4.75 meters. Sophomore Zach Zirgibel finished second, vaulting 4.60 meters.

Senior Tay'Jion Johnson and freshman Cameron Bendixen each finished the hammer throw in the top-20 with throws of 38.49 and 33.06 meters, respectively.

Though no Titans finished in the top-eight, freshmen Kieran Maude, Isaiah Isom and Steven Wauer all finished in the top-20 with marks of 37.91 meters, 36.03 meters and 34.38 meters, respectively.

Johnson finished the shot put with a second place cast of 14.49 meters, followed by Isom in fourth (13.97 meters) and Maude in sixth (13.97 meters). Wauer also finished in the top-10, throwing 12.00 meters.

WashU Distance Carnival Track Events

Junior Ryan Potter and sophomore Dwight Hosni took fourth and fifth in the 800-meter run with times of 1:54.82 and 2:00.52, respectively.

Senior Steven Potter won the 1,500-meter run with a finish of 3:49.36. Senior Andrew Rathkamp also ran in the race, finishing in 4:04.91 for 16th.

In the 10,000-meter run, senior Joe Kehoe ran a 31:54.72.

Two Titans competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with a 9:31.03 from sophomore Jake Krause and a 9:46.17 from junior Jason Ford.

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action on Friday April 7 at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational. The meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
