Potter Wins 1,500-Meter Race At UW-Platteville Invitational

Steven Potter won the 1,500-meter run to lead UW-Oshkosh's six top-three finishes at the UW-Platteville Men's Track & Field Invitational held Friday (April 15).

UW-Oshkosh accumulated 83 points to finish fourth in the team competition. The Titans earned 17 of their points in the 200-meter dash and 14 in the shot put.

UW-Platteville captured the team title with 111 points while UW-Whitewater finished second with 98 and UW-Eau Claire third with 97.5. Wartburg College (Iowa) placed fifth in the 11-team meet with 74.5 points.

Steven Potter defeated the 42 other contestants in the 1,500-meter run with his winning time of 4:00.37. Dalton Martin of Wartburg College finished second in the race with a time of 4:04.36.

Titan Davian Willems recorded this season's seventh-fastest NCAA Division III time in the 100-meter dash with his second-place performance of 10.58 seconds. A total of 36 runners competed in the sprint, including UW-La Crosse's Sam Blaskowski who won the event with a time of 10.44 seconds and UW-Oshkosh's Jaylen Grant who finished fifth in 10.84.

UW-Oshkosh had three place winners in the 200-meter dash as Londyn Little finished second with a time of 21.46 seconds, Rashaad Henderson fourth in 21.61 and Aaron McCarroll-Richardson fifth in 21.72. UW-La Crosse's Blaskowski won the event with a time of 21.21 seconds. The race featured 31 runners.

Titans Jackson Sheckler and Nick Tegtmeier finished second and third, respectively, in the shot put. Sheckler recorded a measurement of 51-6 1/2 while Tegtmeier earned a distance of 50-10 3/4 among the event's 40 participants. University of Dubuque's (Iowa) Cade Collier won the competition with a throw of 51-7.

UW-Oshkosh's Eli Tranel added a third-place height of 14-10 1/4 in the pole vault.

The Titans had two other fourth-place finishers as McCarroll-Richardson leaped to a mark of 22-5 1/4 in the long jump and Ryan Potter ran to a time of 1:57.47 in the 800-meter run.

Jamyle Brantley completed UW-Oshkosh's fifth-place listings with his skip of 41-8 1/2 in the triple jump.

Finishing sixth for the Titans were Bo Koehn with his throw of 145-2 in the javelin and Micah Senior with his time of 51.76 seconds in the 400-meter run.

UW-Oshkosh concluded its scoring with the seventh-place results of 160-11 in the hammer throw by Jacob Dennison and 22-0 3/4 in the long jump by Payton White.

UW-Oshkosh participates at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge next Friday and Saturday (April 22-23).
