Potter, Sheckler Win Events During Titans' Season Opener

First-place finishes by Steven Potter and Jackson Sheckler paced UW-Oshkosh as the Titans opened their 2022 men's outdoor track & field season at the Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) Invitational and UW-Platteville Pioneer Opener held Friday and Saturday (April 1-2).

Potter won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.95 at the Washington University in St. Louis Invitational. He defeated 26 other challengers, including Alex Cobin of Washington University in St. Louis who finished second with a time of 1:55.64.

Potter was the lone Titan to place in the top eight at Washington University in St. Louis Invitational.

At the UW-Platteville Pioneer Opener, Sheckler defeated 28 other contestants in the shot put with his winning throw of 51-10 1/2. UW-Oshkosh's Nick Tegtmeier finished second with a measurement of 51-1 1/2 and Tay'Jion Johnson eighth at 44-9.

Titan Ryan Dolnik placed third among six 5,000-meter run participants with his time of 16:02.34. UW-Platteville's Caleb Christiansen won the race with a time of 15:27.10.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of top eight finishers in the hammer throw as Jacob Dennison placed sixth with a distance of 156-9 and Jack Malloy seventh at 148-3. The event featured 29 entrants, including Cade Collier of the University of Dubuque (Iowa) who ranked first with a measurement of 179-9.

The Titans also received eighth-place finishes of 129-5 in the discus from Tegtmeier and 4:15.25 in the 1,500-meter run from Cody Witthun.

UW-Oshkosh scored 10 points to finish ninth in the team competition at the Washington University in St. Louis Invitational. Washington University in St. Louis won the nine-team meet with 180 points while Lindenwood University (Mo.) finished second with 126.

No team scores were kept at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Opener. 

UW-Oshkosh will send athletes to the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Saturday (April 9).
