Baehman Chosen As WIAC Field Athlete Of The Week
The WIAC selected UW-Oshkosh's Zachary Baehman as one of its two Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week award winners for meets held April 11-17.
Baehman won the shot put while placing seventh in the hammer throw and 20th in the discus at the UW-Platteville Invitational held April 16.
Baehman bested the field of 41 competitors in the shot put with his NCAA Division III-leading distance of 57-10, which is more than one foot longer than the second-best effort in the country this season. UW-Eau Claire's Alex Mess finished second to Baehman with his measurement of 55-5 3/4.
Baehman also threw to distances of 164-2 in the hammer throw and 130-2 in the discus.
Logan Heil of UW-Stevens Point won the hammer throw and Grant Harvard of Grand Bluff Racing the discus with measurements of 187-0 and 187-2, respectively.
No team scores were kept at the UW-Platteville Invitational.
Josh Thorson of UW-Eau Claire was named the WIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
