Pointers Outscore Titans In WIAC First Round

OSHKOSH, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh women's soccer concluded the season at home, dropping a 3-1 decision to UW-Stevens Point in the first round of the WIAC Tournament on Tuesday (Oct. 31).

The Titans' (5-10-4, 3-3-1 WIAC) goal was scored by Alayna Clark (Jr. • Watertown) in the 22nd minute of the game, giving Oshkosh an early 1-0 lead. The Titans had 29 total shots throughout the game with 14 on goal against the Pointers' (8-10-1, 3-4-0 WIAC) 10 and six.

Emma Sauriol (Jr. • New Lenox, Ill.) registered three saves on six shots on goal.

UW-Stevens Point (7-10-1, 3-4 WIAC) snuck two goals past Sauriol in the first half of play. Madison Culli scored with an assist by Heather Iverson in the 39th minute and Gabby Dunn scored the second goal in the 42nd minute.

In the second half, Gina Wasniewski scored Stevens Point's third goal with an assist from Dunn.

Ariana Gonzalez (Fr. • Appleton), Rylie Kaufmann (Sr. • St. Charles, Ill.), Caylee Fry (Jr. • Loganville), Gabriella Mattio (Fr. • Plainfield, Ill.) and Lauren Janssens (So. • Oregon) all recorded shots in goal in the last 23 minutes of the postseason match, however none got past Pointer goalkeeper Jessica Nigbur who saved 13 shots on goal in the game.
