UW-La Crosse enters the meet listed second in the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association's (NCGA) GymInfo rankings. UW-Whitewater is ranked third, Winona State University eighth, UW-Oshkosh ninth and UW-Stout 10th.

This year's WIAC Championship features three gymnasts who have combined to win 11 event titles.

Leading the returnees is UW-Whitewater's Justine Weyer, who owns five first-place medals. She has claimed back-to-back titles in the uneven bars and could become the second person in WIAC history to win three straight championships, joining UW-Oshkosh’s Mary Leivian (1986-88). In 2008, Weyer won the all-around competition while finishing first on the vault and in the floor exercise.

UW-La Crosse's Gabi Hooper has four first-place finishes in her career. A year ago, she won the vault after placing first on the balance beam in 2008. In 2007, Hooper tallied first-place efforts on the vault and in the floor exercise.

UW-Stout's Meghan Hargens is the defending champion in both the all-around competition and floor exercise.

UW-Oshkosh is expected to be led in this year's meet by Stacie Jenkins (Jr. • Peoria, Ariz.) in the all-around competition and Jill Lindberg (So. • Meridian, Idaho) on the balance beam.

The top six individuals in each category receive All-WIAC recognition.

The WIAC Championship also doubles as the NCGA West Regional. The top three teams from the WIAC Championship, along with several individual performers, advance to the NCGA Championship on March 26-27 in Springfield, Mass.
