Titans Set for Action Against Ripon and UW-La Crosse

OSHKOSH, Wis.—The nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh Titans (19-1) softball squad returns to action this week, taking on Ripon College and UW-La Crosse.

The Titans and Red Hawks of Ripon are schedule to play on April 4 at 3 p.m. in a doubleheader.

The Titans open WIAC play on April 7, traveling to UW-La Crosse for the conference opener. The Titans and Eagles are set for first pitch at 2 p.m.

Looking at the Stats

The Titans (as of March 30, 2023) lead the nation in ERA at 0.76 and have the best win-loss percentage in the nation. The Titans lead the conference in batting average (0.322), shutouts (six), runs (119), and on-base percentage (0.410). The Titans have top-10 rankings in the nation in WHIP, sacrifice flies, and shutouts.

Maddie Fink (ERA and shutouts), Abby Freismuth (saves), and Sydney Nemetz (wins) hold top-10 marks in the nation. Sophie Wery leads the WIAC in RBIs at 23 while Morgan Rau leads the WIAC in walks at 16.

Hannah Ritter leads the team with 33 hits and a batting average of .508. Gabby Buikema leads the team with 19 runs scored, while Wery leads the team with nine doubles and three home runs.

The Titans swept St. Norbert College in a doubleheader on March 29 in Oshkosh. Fink matched her career best for strikeouts with 11 strikeouts in the first game against St. Norbert.

Previewing the Titans Opponents

The Red Hawks of Ripon have started the season with a 6-10 record. The Titans hold an 11-1 record, dating back to the 2012 season.

Abby Gilbertson leads the Red Hawks with an average of .458 and has recorded 15 RBIs. Mikaela Lawrence leads the team with 24 hits and has a batting averaging of .444. In the pitcher's circle, Kalen Berger has an ERA of 4.91 with the Red Hawks combining for a team ERA of 5.18.

The Eagles of La Crosse have started the season with a 14-7 record and won seven of their last eight games. The Titans hold a 15-11 series lead over the Eagles, although the Eagles have claimed the last four meetings.

Jordan McCormack leads the Eagles and the WIAC with a batting average of .543 and leads the team in hits at 38. Kyra Lard and McCormack have 20 RBIs apiece this season as the Eagles have recorded 130 runs this season. The Eagles have a team batting average of .333. In the pitcher's circle, the Eagles have an ERA of 2.99 and are led by Elise Weinzierl with an ERA of 2.38.
