Titans Softball Remains Undefeated on the Year

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Starting the season off 6-0, the UW-Oshkosh Titans softball squad posted victories over Lawrence University and UW-Superior inside the UW-Oshkosh Rec Plex. 

The Titans posted an 8-2 victory over Lawrence and a 3-0 victory over UW-Superior.

Against the Vikings of Lawrence, the Titans took the lead in the third and held off a late charge by the Vikings in the fifth.

The Titans found their three runs against UW-Superior in the first two innings of the day and held the Yellowjackets to just three hits.

Emily Cliver reached first base on an error as Morgan Rau, Hannah Ritter, and Gabby Buikema scored for the Titans. The Vikings got two runs across in the top of the fifth, trimming the Titans lead to one a 3-2. Ana Iliopoulos hit a 3 RBI single that pushed Cali Divito, Cliver, and Rau across for the Titans. Haylie Wittman hit a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to send Buikema and Iliopoulos across the plate and secure the win for the Titans.

Sydney Nemetz recorded her third win of the season, pitching five innings and recording five strikeouts.

Rau hit a single in the bottom of the first against UW-Superior, sending Ritter and Buikema across the plate for the Titans and the early lead. Iliopoulos hit a sacrifice fly RBI as Wittman scored the Titans third and final run of the afternoon. The Titans would be held to two hits over the final four innings of play after recording four hits in the first two innings.

In the pitchers' circle for the Titans, Maddie Fink pitched a complete game, collected her third win, and recorded five strikeouts.

The Titans will host MSOE on Saturday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m. for a doubleheader.
