Titans Post Victories Against Yellowjackets and Vikings
OSHKOSH, Wis.—On the first day of the UW-Oshkosh Dome Tournament, the UW-Oshkosh Titans improved to 4-0 on the season with wins over UW-Superior and Lawrence.
The Titans used a big sixth inning to defeat the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior 4-1. A big first inning against the Vikings of Lawrence saw the Titans move to 4-0 with a 5-1 victory.
The Yellowjackets struck first, scoring in the second inning on an RBI double. Abby Garceau put the Titans on the board in the fifth, tying the game at one. Gabby Buikema hit an RBI single in the sixth as Ana Iliopoulos scored and put the Titans ahead. Sealing the victory for the Titans, Hannah Ritter hit a 2 RBI single in the sixth and sent Buikema and Garceau over the plate.
The Titans recorded seven hits and one error against the Yellowjackets. Garceau had two runs on three at bats. Sophie Wery recorded two hits on three at bats and Morgan Rau recorded a hit for the Titans. Sydney Nemetz recorded the win for the Titans in the pitching circle.
Lawrence struck in the top of the first against the Titans on a sac bunt to send their lead batter across the plate. Ritter hit an RBI single in the first as Garceau put the Titans on the board. Emily Cliver hit a ground-rule 2 RBI double in the first to send Wery and Ritter across home plate for the Titans. Ritter hit an RBI sac fly in the second as Iliopoulos put the Titans up by three. Cali Divito scored for the Titans as Lizzie Slobodecki hit a ground-out to second base for an RBI.
Ritter, Cliver, Caitlin Willams, and Haylie Wittman all recorded hits for the Titans as the Titans had five hits in the contest. Maddie Fink recorded the win for the Titans inside the pitching circle.
Action continues at the UW-Oshkosh Rec Plex on March 5. UW-Superior and Lawrence will have first pitch starting at 10 a.m. The Titans will then play Lawrence at 12 p.m. before concluding weekend action against UW-Superior at 2 p.m.
